I have a German Mauser and a Russian Mosin Nagant 91/30. What should I look into next.....needs to be at around $300 or below. I was thinking Swiss K-31...but now im wondering on a Yugo SKS...etc. What do you guys think.

Swiss K-31's are excellent and the price is headed north. I'd suggest that or a Finnish M91 or M39. Those can still be found for under $300.

Buy a Yugo m59/66A1 from classic arms, its $200 (about 235 after shipping and transfer) for a un-used one. Or you can get a very good condition for $189. Thats the cheapest I've seen them in a while. Centerfire has the same ones but they're $234 + 25 shipping + 25 transfer fee (if you dont have a FFL). Buy one soon, the prices are only going higher and higher.

I'll go ahead and recommend the K31 too, I saw one for $200 at a gun show on friday. The remaining $100 could get you maybe between 150-200 rounds for it too.

You can't go wrong with either a K31 or an M39. The Yugo SKS's are good guns, but they're not really in the same league.

You should go after these since they are drying up and prices are on the rise:

K-31
Finnish Mosin M39, or M91
Swedish Mauser M96
German Mauser K98
Enfield No. 4 MK 1 (although it seems the good ones are already gone)

IMHO, you can take or leave the Yugo SKS. I am not impressed with a 9 pound "carbine".

I have a pretty good collection of WWII bolt guns and I am now obsessed with the K31. I bought one and now I MUST have more!! They are soooo well done it is unreal that they sell for so little. As a bonus they fire a very potent round to boot. I will be getting more.

If you want something that will turn heads, try to find a Russian SKS. You may have to go above that- maybe $350 or so. But if you get one with a nice stock it would be much nicer than a Yugo. :)

If you're leaning towrds an SKS, consider a Norinco. I sold off my Yugo once I tried the Norinco. It's much lighter, it's handier and has a chrome lined bore. The Yugo feels like a log in comparison. The Norinco is a little bit more accurate, too.

Among the guns currently easily available, I do believe the K-31 is the best choice. They are accurate and very fine quality. The supply is running short, and when they are gone I doubt we will see them again soon (if ever) for such a reasonable price. Finnish 39 's are in near the same category.

K-31 or Swedish Mauser. Both are getting harder to find and more expensive, and they're some of the best made, best shooting military rifles made. Spanish M93 or Chilean M95 (both 7x57) are also sweet rifles, and can still be found for under $200.

I'd recommend a Lee-Enfield #1 Mk III or #4 Mk II in keeping with the WWII theme, or try and find an American military rifle at a decent price, i.e., M1 Carbine or M1 Rifle.
