I live in Australia and recently purchased a Browning Buckmark .22 semi automatic pistol. Using the serial number and Browning's website I can tell the year of manufacture, but I can't find out what model it is.

Does anyone know how I can do this?

here is a picture of my Buckmark...any help identifying which model it is would be greatly appreciated.

It a Buckmark model in stainless steel with a slab slide barrel.

Browning has made a ton... or a metric ton for you.. different variations. At one time I remember seeing 34 different variations on their site.

Its a Buckmark model though if you ever want to buy grips for it.

Welcome to THR.

What ever its called its a good one. I got the same one a few months back. The only thing I don't like is the front black sight, I put some white nail polish on it and its easier to pick up, bit I think ill pick up a Dawson precision front sight for it. Have fun over there, grab some fosters

It is the "STANDARD" model in stainless steel. The newer models you will see have the URX grips. Regardless it is a straight shooter and a lot of fun to shoot. Here is a link that will help you strip it for cleaning or anything you may like to do with it. Congratulations on a great pistol.

You might check-out our friends over at rimfirecentral.com . They've got a sub-forum dedicated to Browning rimfires and there's a bunch of GREAT info over there. I shoot a Buckmark Match Target Extra & REALLY enjoy it. (*try the "Heggis Flip")

I second the "Heggis flip". No cost, easily done and reversible, makes a good trigger pull even better.

I don't think it's a Standard, it's got a Camper grip style.

I think it's an older stainless Camper - not the new one with the FO front sight. They've made a number of models over the years...

Right now I think they're at 15 different models, having gotten rid of 6 in the last year or so. They kind of come and go.

I think it is the old standard model with the thumbrest grips. I believe those grips have been transferred to what now is the camper model and most of the new standard models sport the urx grips.

Might be completely wrong though.........

^ As could I - only got into Buckmarks the past 2 or 3 years.

You may very well be right.

According to the threads Ive read on rimfirecentral....

The Camper frame is different than the UDX and URX frames and the grips are not interchangable.

The "Standard" may well be on the UDX/URX frame now....but based in those grips, thats most definitely a Camper Frame.

Thanks to everyone who replied, still not sure if it is a Standard or a Camper, although in the end I suppose it does not matter.
I am new to pistol shooting, I compete in ISSF matches and bought this as an entry level gun. No one seems to rate it, they call it a "plinker" and while I agree it is not up to the standard of a Pardini or a Morini...it did not cost $2500+...so for a beginner I find it to be a good pistol.
I have since put on a KN orthopedic grip which has made a huge difference and may look to get a HiViz fibre optic front sight.

I just wanted to follow up on this thread. This is the info I was referring to. Depending on how you read may comment and the comment on RFC, the two may not 100% jive with each other.

If in doubt.... Id listen to RFC as there is waaaaay more Buck Mark knowledge there than I will ever have.

Can I get aftermarket grips?
Browning has three different frames right now for the Buck Mark line-up. This is the URX, UDX and Standard. The URX models have wrap around rubber grips. The UDX models have finger grooves cut into the frame. The Standard frames are ... well ... standard. For the standard Buck Mark models (Not the URX, UDX, Contour, etc) you can get grips at these places, as well as others:

This is a great thread for new Buck Mark owners. It has sites info, grips, info and a ton of other stuff and links.

Its even called "Buck Mark Starter Thread"
