Watching the climatic ending of the 2008 Rambo film, reminded me why I got into guns: Guts and Glory!!!! Then later on patriotism.:p

But the very first movie that got me into it was Star Wars when Han Solo was blasting away with his Mauser. Let's put parental/familial influence aside and see how Hollywood influenced you.

So what movie influenced you to go and learn the art of the gun?

Wasn't a movie that got me into guns. I twas a trip to the gun shop with a buddy 20 years ago.

But, there have been movies that made me want a particular gun.

Old WWII movies with John Wayne made me want an Garand.

Old westerns with John Wayne made me want a lever gun.

Spy movies such as James Bond and the like made me want a PPK.

I got an AK-47 clone (partially) due to Nicolas Cage's spiel in Lord of War.

Movies influence alot of my purchases (even if they're dumb movies).

What caliber laser do you think I should use for sandpeople? Also, I want to make sure I have enough armorin the back for stray .308 laser hits, how many trauma plates you think I'll need? 3 or 4? :neener:

All joking aside, movies didn't get me into guns. Friends with guns got me into guns. Specifically that first 30 round mag out of my buddies Mac 90, that pretty much did it.

None, really. I think that movie characters should use my guns. But I would like the Ebony & Ivory longslide 1911's from the video game Devil May Cry! And yes,the ejection port there is on the left side on purpose...for two-handed shooting! Hey,they look good. Not like I'd really spend the money on 'em.

1911

Specifically to 1911's, Steven Segal in Under Siege. Also got me interested in Aikido.

Tombstone, I saw my first glock in true lies, Leathal Weapon...lots of movies

I remember when I was 12 or so, around 1979, I would pretend to go to sleep then get back up and turn my little black and white TV on around 11pm and watch reruns of "Combat" with Vic Morrow. I decided at that moment that I had to have a Thompson and a Jeep :)

The only two guns I ever wanted because of Hollywierd were nothing special, just a Thompson machine gun, and a single action revolver.

Vic Morrow as Sergeant Saunders was my TV hero growing up.

I just had to have a real western six gun, just like the Cisco Kid.

Did you know that Duncan Renaldo, who played the Cisco Kid, was sixty years old when he started making that show, and he did all of his own stunt work. Now that I've hit the big five-oh, and know how old Duncan was, I kind of like that show even more.

Raid at Entebbe
The Wild Geese
Dirty Dozen

There's more but those are some of the ones from my earliest memories that got me interested in guns.

The end of the latest Rambo movie didn't make me want to do anything but go back to blockbuster and get a better movie.

I don't recall the first movie that made me want to shoot a gun, but I know that Sgt Maj Plumley's character in We Were Soldiers sure made me want to get a 1911.

Mosin Nagant - Enemy at the Gates
Mauser 98k - (Any ww2 movie with German soldiers)

To be honest, I do a lot of internet searching on WW2 firearms, and I find that reading reviews, looking at range pics, and looking at pictures from WW2 of that weapon in use make me want to get a particular rifle above all else. Seeing Marines fire the 1903 Springfield on ranges (old photos) make me REALLY want to get one of those.

Quigley down under- Made me want a Sharps I started with the "cheap" EMF in 45-70 it had the "high hammer" like an origional converted to a cartridge gun. I sold it and now have the 50-90 low hammer model similar to the Quigley gun.

Sniper- I really wanted a H-bar bolt gun so I bought a 700-sendero in 7mm mag

Unforgiven-gave me a taste for a schofeild and a spencer rifle can afford neither right now but it is high on the list

Glory-got me into cap and ball revolvers

Young guns- got me into a ruger vaquero as I could not afford a colt

Lastly the last Samauri- MAkes me really want a Richards-Mason conversion revolver its the next and highes priority on my list.

infact I have to say about half of my guns I have ever had were influanced by movies.

"The road to Wellville", and "There's something about Mary". I wanted to shoot the projector in both of them. I walked out, instead. What a waste of film.

Seriously, LIFE got me interested in weapons. Hollyweird had nothing to do with it.

the ghosty stories about the tall hills didnt scared me .. I looked for a 50 caliber Hawken.. I found a .45 only, but damn, it was a Genuine Hawken Replica !!!

The Man Standing - great 1911 action. And We Were Soldiers - Sam Elliot's character again with the 1911 was awesome. I got a Kimber Compact. Also Band of Brothers series was responsible for another 1911 and an M1 Carbine and a M98-K.

Not a movie, but: The Rifleman. You know, Chuck Connors and all that. Oddly, I still don't have a lever-action rifle... someday, someday.
