Which Tikka model?Cz 527, or cz550?
I dislike the 700, it’s bland, very overdone, and the resale value is not good (I do enjoy the high end clones though). There are better push feed actions out there for the money (in my opinion) for example I love my tikka.
The cz550 is my favorite of the cz lineup. Unlike the 527, it’s based on the Mauser, and robust. I’d mainly want one in a big cartridge though.
The Winchester is “the riflemans rifle” and 270 is arguably one of “the riflemans cartridges”. Yes the win 70 has been done up quite a bit like the Remington, but it retains its elegance more than the Remington. If that makes sense? It feels like it has more heritage behind it.
In this cartridge pairing, my vote is the Winchester.
Which Tikka model?
I grabbed a pair of Walnut stocked B-14's when L M Burney folded last year. Nice rifles but they skimp on finish. They need to take a lesson from CZ or even Mossberg on filling the grain and finishing. I have a 6.5 I could part with.I like Tikka rifles, but not the wood stocked versions. I cannot find anything verifying the wood is walnut, all the specs I can find simply say "wood". In my experience if they use walnut they make sure to advertise that it is walnut. I've only seen 1 or 2 in person and the wood on the ones I saw sure looked like cheap wood with a walnut finish. Same with all of the photos I've seen. If they are using real walnut they have a knack for finding the ugliest stick of walnut in the forest.
My preference is the Winchester 70, but another option is Bergara.

View attachment 911861 I've never seen one of the wood stocked rifles in person. But I own a B14 Hunter in 6.5 CM and B14 Ridge in 308 and they are very nice rifles. Both are 700 clones, but much improved. They fixed all of the 700's shortcomings.
The price seems comparable to everything else.

Looking at new rifles with wood stocks in 270 Win.
Which would you buy and why?
Remington BDL
CZ Sporter
Winchester 70 Featherweight
Id Id actually Forgoten mossberg offered those. There were some on the shelf here till the corona panic. Before laughing/dismissing, take a look at the Mossberg Patriot Revere. I am quite impressed with the rifle itself and the Revere, walnut stocked, looks nicely finished.

I could live with that in a hunting rifle. I want to know where that first shot goes fired from a cold barrel. The rest are moot. A range gun is a completely different animal.I would buy the Model 70. Mine is in .280 though. My M70 featherweight is very accurate for the first 3 shots but then the group opens up markedly. So if tight 5 shots is what you want pick a heavier barrel. I am really happier just shooting 2 shot groups. The first 2 often touch each other and the "group" stays in the same place from one session to another. Basically not a "range" rifle.
I had a 22 RF that had some really nice metal finish. The deep shiny blue of Old World workmanship. Wasn't impressed with the wood finish, but I fixed that. Zastava and CZ have some of the nicest Blue jobs. It's a shame that most of our U.S. companies went the cheap route.Welp. After much searching I bid on a new Zastava M85 mini mauser in 223.
It will be a little brother of my Zastava M70 Sporter in 270 Win.
Nice firearms.
