Ok I know that two of these guns are not even out yet but I just want to get an idea what people think about this. Next on my list is an AR type weapon as I have finished my AK buying spree, for now...

First the Masada
Secnd the FN Scar
Third an LWRC

I would like to build a comparision b/t the rifles and I know it may be dificult as the Masada and Scar have yet to hit the shelves. Maybe something like this:

Example of common factors:
All are pistol driven

Example of differences:
Masada and Scar can be had with folding stock (where legal) while LWRC can not.

Pros: ?

Cons: ?

The poll is getting action but we have negative responses, anyone have a reason for there vote?

The SCAR or ACR would be "the thing", IMO. That way, you can change to shoot whatever surplus calibre is the cheapest; 5.45 one day, 7.62x39 the next, 5.56 two weeks later--no big deal. Or in the SCAR's case, .223 or .308, whichever floats one's boat.

If you're limited by a ban in the near future, the ACR would be the thing to have to allow you to shoot such a "banned" firearm more frequently, though.

Out of the three, I'm leaning towards the SCAR.

I like how FN is committed to making Title 1 versions of their Title 2 firearms.
Such as the PS90, FS2000, SCAR-L and SCAR-H.

Info from the SHOT show, indicates the only difference between the military/LE version of the SCAR and the civilian prototype is the trigger pack. So, you'll be getting the same reliability and performance that won the US.SOCOM contract.

The military version of the SCAR-L can also be converted to 7.62x39mm and it uses AK magazines. So, a conversion kit for the civilian version should also follow.

Until they are all released and proven how could you possibly vote on one? Assuming that they all perform well I'd choose the Masada.

I chose the Masada, ACR. Right now it is vaporware, but if it comes to fruition it promises to be a great rifle design. I may actually purchase one, someday.

The AR type was next on my list after my M14 buying spree, after careful consideration
and an unwillingness to wait for what may become available I picked up a Colt LE 6920.

Good luck

I have always enjoyed FN's products and finish. I believe the company follows through on their designs.

When I looked at photos of the Masada's internals and compared them to my Glock, I noted a lack of metal reinforcement around the trigger housing, etc. That seemed to be a substantial oversight in my estimation.

I certainly get the appeal of all these rifles in terms of their flexibility and action. I would only be concerned about parts over the long run. If you intend to shoot the heck out of them until they bust apart, I think the short term benefit of shooting whatever ammo you want is a great idea. If you want something with a supply chain behind it, there are other obvious choices in the AR/AK families.

This is key. I don't care how impressive a rifle is on paper. I care about how it performs.

Civvie SCAR ain't here yet. So I'm willing to bet that very very few of us have ever held one.

No configuration of Masada/ACR is here yet.

The gas-piston AR is the only one of the three that is available.

So, would you rather drive a concept car unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show, a car that is coming out later this year, or a car that's on the market now? That's unanswerable.

I'm in the other boat. I've just finished my AR spree, and will begin buying M14's. Can hardley wait.

The SCAR is the ONLY even half way proven rifle on that list.

The Masada/ACR, has BUSHMASTER even manufactured just ONE of them yet? It's vaporware.

The LWRC, good choice, but still nowhere near the gun of the SCAR. You do have the availability of all the AR crap most people own though (including myself) :)

The SCAR is the best of the 3 listed without comparison. It IS the better rifle.

Itstock,

That is a pretty strong opinion you have there... I guess you base opinion on FN's reputation for putting out great military rifles. I just don't know that I agree with it blowing the others out of the water.

I guess we shall see, if they ever hit the shelves...
