Ok, I don't want to start a war here about which one is better, just trying to get some idea about what people prefer and why.

Thanks and regards,

Now:
XD9 or Glock 17?
Which one and why?

BTW

I was looking for another poll, which I'm sure there are, but I couldn't find it.
Thanks,

I dont like either of them enough to hang onto them , but both are ok traders lol . The xd did get my vote due to the different grip angle.

I dislike Glocks, so I picked the XD. But I don't particularly like the feel of either, so I'd probably pick a Baby Eagle, M&P, or something else :D

I shoot a G17 now and like it. I know that the grip angle is differnt than my 1911's. However, if makes me focus on the front site. The G17 has given me no reason to switch. It is like a timex.... Takes a lick'n and keeps on tick'n. Now if I was starting out new and did not have the Glock first.... I may of picked the XD.... Hard to say.... But I do like the XD 45, better than the Glock's I have shot.......

My advice, try them both and pick the one you like.... They are both very good!

I've owned probably 2 dozen different brands of 9mms over the years, including an XD. I'll take Glock over any of them. Glocks fit my hand the best.

Between the two the Glock has better aftermarket support, spare parts are readily available, and it has a proven track record. The only fault I can find in the XD series, now that they're using a much improved finish, is a lack of common spares being available. Unless things have changed that I'm unaware of, any small part breaks (rare occurence) and you're stuck waiting on factory service, whereas there are tons of Glock armorers with spares who can have you back up and running quickly.

After that it's personal preference. I prefer the trigger feel and grip angle on the XDs. Both are fine pistols. Which one fits you best is the one thats best for you.

Prefer the G17. I saw 2 XD 9s break last year for the same reason. I haven't seen anyone here complain about the same issue so it may have just been a bad couple of guns. But for now...I like Glock 9mm guns :D

I had XD and several GLOCKs.
I'll take the GLOCK. Reliability and its finish toughness are just untouchable by the XD.
Most of these people here are GLOCK hater and jamomatic 1911 fundamentalist fanboys (they're jsut as bad as the al qaeda), so your poll will be biased. I'm just telling you what I got because I'm owner of these two guns :)

Interesting gudel. As of this post the XD is holding only a slight (55% to 45%) advantage. I like 1911s, and thus far my SA GI has been anything but a jammomatic. I only went with a 1911 because it fits my hand and I'm accurate with it. I enjoyed the durability and great reliability of my Glock 22. Alas it didn't fit me and accuracy suffered, so I went to what works for me. I also think I gave a pretty unbiased evaluation of the two pistols (Glock vs. XD). Just because you don'y like 1911s is no reason to make a sweeping general statement that 1911 owners are biased "fundamentalist fanboys", and make the cheapshot "jammomatic" comment about 1911s. I'm glad that Glocks fit and work well for you. Please feel free to talk about it's advantages over the XD, since the OP asked about those two handguns specifically. However, there is no need to make an unfounded claim of bias in the poll. I thank you in advance for your understanding.

If forced, the XD. If choice, BHP!

A man of taste and culture!

I'd also pick the XD if it was between the XD and glock. That said, the only polymer framed gun i own is a glock 20. If springfield were to make an XD in 10mm, i'd pick one up and dump the glock. Maybe it'll be better after a grip chop.
Same choice here, please.

both

I voted for the XD9 - but I have both (actually an XD9 and a G34). Had I found the XD9 Tactical I was looking for I would have 2 XD's. As it stands right now I shoot the G34 better, probably due to the longer sight radius.
