Trying to decide. I haven't had a chance to shoot either the Sig 239 or the Springfield XD9 Compact. However, I have Sig 226 and really like it although I know the grip is different on the P239. There is a difference in price and trigger action. Which is the most concealable and what are the pro/con of each?

I was doing a similar comparison a while back. Run the numbers between the Sig 239 and, say, a Glock 23. Look at capacity, weight, length, height, etc. Now look at the smaller Glock 27. Or, save yourself some time and just compare the 239 to the Springfield. :D The 239 is a fantasic pistol, but I cannot justify something so (relatively) big and heavy for CCW. I would go with the subcompact XD and buy full-size magazines to carry for a reload.

OTOH, if you have small hands, the 239 might be just the ticket.

I've owned both a Sig 239 and a Springy XD9 Subcompact...I sold the 239 and kept the XD.

The XD is lighter by a smidge.

The XD fills the hand much much better.

The XD has a higher capacity and will accept high cap mags.

The XD has a better warranty, though with Sig Arms customer service this is negligable.

The XD may or may not have a better trigger depending upon what you like.

The 239 was better for IWB carry,

The XD is better for all other carry,

The 239 is slightly more accurate, though with such small guns anything beyond 50ft. is stretching it.

The 239 has a better finish.

The 239 10 round mag sucks. Really.

Go XD

I had and sold a P239. My current carry gun is a P228. A shooting buddy has a bi-tone XD 9 sub-compact, that in a moment of weakness he almost sold to me. If he had, that would be my carry gun, not the P228.

The XD is incredibly accurate for such a small gun, far better than my P239 ever was. It is also quite manageable for being so light, very easy to shoot.

Even though I love SIGs, I would go with the XD over the P239 in a heartbeat. But it's not for me, is it? You really need to shoot both of them, preferably in the same session, then decide for yourself.
