I believe that STI makes nice guns. If you are willing to spend the money, why not get a caspian slide and frame and send it to a good gunsmith and have him build a gun to suit your needs.

I got two guns from Dave Santurri in RI. He does good work and quick turnaround time.

(I am not affiliated with santurri... I just like his work)

All production guns use MIM parts, including Colt, STI, Kimber, SA etc. For certain parts they work just fine. They all produce a number of problem guns. Get the color you like chances are it will be just fine.

The Trojan is a heck of a value for the money, but the frame is cast versus the forged frames of the Colt and SA pistols. The Trojan frame is plenty strong, but the casting has surface voids and some rough areas. This impacts looks only; it has no effect on function. It also comes with the STIppling, and I prefer serrations or checkering.
There are other STI models that have forged frames and checkering.
