I recently purchased an American Tactical fx .45 full size 1911. Can't find any parts specifically for it. Just wanting to put a beaver tail grip safety on it but don't know which one to buy. Looking for a drop in. I know they never really are truly drop in but that's what in lookin for. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

You'll need to contact their customer service and ask what radius beavertail to buy. There are two, if i remember right it's .220" and .250".

I doubt you will ever be happy with a drop in grip safety. They look absolutely disgusting.
That's a little harsh isn't it?

I don't think this Wilson drop-in on my old 1953 Colt looks 'That Disgusting'?
And it works perfectly.

I just didn't want to permanently ruin the original Colt frame by grinding it for a custom safety.

It can always go back to box stock 1953, if I want it too!

Yes and no. I own guns like glocks and XDs that I think are ugly and quite useful. My 1911s are all higher end or at least the upper end of entry level($1200 or more) 1911s. I think they look absolutely terrible. Even a true entry level RIA has a better fit than the drop ins.

It's a matter of preference and what you want out of it. If it's important to you to be able to swap back stock then you make the compromise to use a drop in. Myself, I would leave that gun stock and modify a different one if it had value to me, either monetary or sentimental.

Either way, my opinion is they are hideous, you certainly shouldn't take offense at that, as you may find the things I find beautiful equally hideous.
