HI,

Due to severe financial constraints, I have to sell off my gun collection.
I am only going to be able to keep one handgun. I have to choose between a taurus pt111 millenium pro stainless 9mm, or a taurus pt145 millenium pro with blued slide. Both pistols have the new da/sa trigger and are brand new. Please keep in mind that this is not a what if poll. I really do have to get rid of all but one.

Thanks
Bodman

I would probably keep keep the pt111 simply bacause it is cheaper to practice with. If I only had one handgun I would like to get as much use out of it as possible. I've been in a similar situation so I know how hard the decision is. Good luck.

The one you shoot the best with. Also, what all are you selling? I'm sorry to hear you have to sell it off but I might be able to make some of them a nice new home.

I think the PT111 would be a better CCW as it is smaller than the 145. I'd keep the 111.

bodman, first welcome to THR, and secondly that really sucks that you have to sell them, i have been in that situation before and i hated it but you gotta do it. I would agree with the previous posters and say stay with the pt111, it will be cheaper to practice with, and that makes good sense, since you are in a tight finacial spot. good luck and i hope things work out for you.

Sorry to hear of your situation. I've had to sell a gun here and there before for financial reasons, and I've thought about selling several on occasion, but I've never had to sell them all off. It it not fun. Tough situation.

Anyway, I'd probably stay with the majority here and keep the PT111 Milennium Pro. I like 9mm, though I do prefer the larger .40S&W and .45ACP these days. Any will do the job though and 9mm will make for cheaper practice (important if you are having financial difficulties at the moment). Still, if you are having trouble you probably won't be going to the range that often right now anyway, so I'd also look at your local market and try to find out which will sell faster and for more money and sell that one (even if it is the 9mm).

I had to sell of my collection once...tough decision to make. But I did keep one and it was the one I would have had the toughest time replacing when finances stablized.
Seing that both are Tauri, I'd go w/ the one I shot better :D

I too am sorry to hear of your dilemma.
This is another Vote for what ever you shoot Best.
Personally I don't think you will be going to the range
as much as you use too so Ammo cost wouldn't be a factor.
We wish you a quick recovery , hang in there it will work out.

I'd like to say that for me it would be an easy choice as I don't enjoy shooting 9mm, HOWEVER if it came down to it I might keep the 9mm over the .45 as defensive 9mm ammo is very good these day's and anyway you look at it, 9mm is cheaper to practice with as well as stock with defensive ammo.

Bodman, also remember that you will get more selling it privately then you will selling it back to a gunshop

Sorry to hear about your situation.

9mm = cheaper and easier to carry
Stainless = easier to maintain (and cooler looking in my opinon :))

I'd probably keep the PT-111.

If I were in your boat and my financial troubles weren't so severe that I could afford to regularly shoot the PT-145, I'd be tempted to forego the stainless and smaller frame. Shooting .45 is just so much more fun.
