I was looking at a new Taurus Millenium PRO. The model is the PT111. I notice that some have the words "Millennium PRO" on the left side of the slide and some have the words "PT111 PRO" on the right side of the slide. Is this just cosmetic or is one newer and better?

The models which have "Millenium Pro" on the left side are the standard double action only (DAO) models.

The latest versions just say "Millenium" on the left and, for instance "PT 111 Pro" or "PT 145 Pro", etc., on the right side of the slide. These have DA/SA triggers like the 24/7 models.

Either one, (DAO, or DA/SA), is just fine, just depends on which trigger system you like best:D

I just picked up one of the new SA/DA PT111 Pros last weekend and ran a couple hundred rounds threw it yesterday between me and a buddy shooting it. 100% reliability so far w/ 150 rounds of Wolf crap and 50ish rounds of Winchester "White Box" 9mm through it. Shot nice. The trigger pull is a little different than I'm used to and I have a tendency to pull shots low with it, but I should be able to overcome that.

Very pleased so far, any gun that will shoot Wolf junk reliably (especially during what should be the break in period) gets a big plus with me.

I'm not 100% sure so I may be mistaken, but it looks like there is a catch on the rear of the striker/firing pin assembly that holds it in the "cocked" position as the slide is cycling shut (same catch that the trigger mechanism uses to pull the striker to the rear in DA mode). The very last thing the trigger pull seems to do is bump down the cooresponding catch in the frame, which releases the striker if it was being held. That's just what it looks like to me from looking at it, could have something wrong...
