Being new to this - can you call it a hobby? - sport, I am curious about handguns that allow barrel swapping. I have a Beretta 92SF and am currently looking for a smaller 9mm. I'd like to know if there is anything that offers the freedom to swap barrels/calibers on the same frame. Or am I barking up the wrong tree?

If you can find a 9x19mm or .40 Centurion slide/barrel assembly for sale, it will drop right on your 92FS frame. In the case of the .40, you will need .40 mags to go with it.

CDNN had Centurion assemblies a few years ago, and they turn up for sale every now and then.

Probably the most versitle handguns for barrel swaps are GLOCKS.

For instance my Glock 29 shoots 10MM as primary. Change the barrel I can use the same magazines and shoot .40, 9X25 and .357 SIG.

Also, for instance a GLOCK 23 that shoots .40 can swap barrels (same magazine) and shoot .357 SIG and if you want you can install a 9MM barrel and magazine and shoot 9 perfectly.

Be well, Bob

Just off the top of my head... Some Sigs, Glocks, Springfield XDs, S&W M&Ps... A lot of times it's as easy as swapping out the barrel, sometimes you may need to change a recoil spring or magazine.

EAA witness line can swap between a whole bunch of calibers using a common frame. They offer swap kits for sale.

A 1911 can shoot .45 ACP and .40 CorBon with just a barrel swap. My Star Super has barrels for 9x23 Largo and 9x19 Luger.

Barrel Swapping

I just got a Bond Arms Snake Slayer Derringer. They offer six different models, each of which takes any of the interchangeable barrels. Swapping is a simple matter of backing out one setcrew with a 1/8 inch Allen wrench. Available barrels include 45 Colt, 45/410, 40 S&W, 9mm, 10mm, 45ACP, 22LR, 22Mag, 38Special/357...22 different calibers in all. The barrels are only about 119.00 each. If you purchase a Derringer this month you get a 50% off coupon for the barrel of your choice.
I have lots of handguns, but think this is my favorite!

The Sig 229 in .40 or .357 can exchange barrels. There's also a .22 kit and you can get a 9mm conversion barrel for four calibers on the same frame.

My instructor has some sort of subcompact Glock he can shoot 9mm, .40 and 357 Sig in. No clue which one it is, but that's pretty universal to me.

the thing for me in your case would be that "Beretta" means .380 and 9mm to me ... so frankly I wouldn't buy a gun with a trident not chambered in either of these. 8)

The Grizzly semi auto pistol could be configured to several caliber as I recall. BTW concerning the Beretta 92 being converted to 40 S&W you can use the 9 mm magazines they will feed 40 S&W. I know this as I had both a 92 and 96,went to the rang one day with the 92 and 96 and forgot the mags for the 96. Tried loading 40 S&W in the 9 mm mag no problem and the fed in the 96. When I got home I compared the 92 and 96 mags and they looked identical to me

Nushif, I like your tag line. I happen to whole heartedly agree with the correlation of "professional" with "logistics". How do you employ your tactics and strategy without beans and bullets? Hmmm. Looks like the Glock truly is becoming America's gun.
