Never owned a Barska, but have owned a Tasco and it's nice for the price.

Using it on my Savage 17HMR BTVS up to 150yds.. Both hunting and target shooting

Rather than blow your money on a Barska just donate the money to your favorite charity.

Stick with : All offer pretty good lower cost scopes for the money.

i can afford any under $500.. just don't think there is a need to spend that much on a scope for a rimfire. I want a decent scope with AO for like 150-200. Can't finds any in the better brands that's around that price with AO + mildot

That banner is dark. Too much magnification for too small of an objective and too cheap of a lens. I held it beside the model that only goes up to 18x and the 18x was much brighter, enough that I would have never set the 24x model above 18x anyways. I guess my best suggestion if you want to stay under $200 is Mueller. They have a 8.5-25x44 which is probably the best bet in the China made market. Not 100% sold on the scope but for the money other China made scopes are going to struggle to keep up.

There is, in my opinion, a huge quality jump from China made to anywhere but China. Price jumps a bit as well and for a 24x scope you are going to be over $300 if not $500. A quality 24x scope, especially one that has an adjustable magnification range, is going to cost a lot. You can try cheap China made options, lord knows I have, but I have never been happy with any in the end. I haven't personally tried that Mueller though and I hear a lot of good things about it so who knows.

Mueller. I got an APV on my .17 HMR and I have to say it is a nice scope. Doesn't feel as sturdy as my similarly priced leupold, but it is easier to adjust and was cheaper. Though I don't think it needs to be all that sturdy for just a .17

I'm not a fan of those scopes from Cabela's. I worked there and through all the time dealing with them I would gladly buy their Alaskan Guide line but thats it. The pine ridge is right in line with the Barska, Tasco, BSA, etc. I would honestly rather a good 3-9 than a cheap 24x. I will say I have had decent experiences with a Simmons 44mag. Not the best glass in the world but has held up to the light recoil of the .22lr it has sat on. I like the Nikon Buckmaster line, Bushnell 3200 line, and Sightron SI/SII for budget glass. They are on the line of what seems to get you decent quality. Some people get lucky with an inexpensive scope. I'm not one of them. Most of the scopes I get that are cheap have some major problem(s). The Mueller line is one that gets a lot of decent to good reviews. Their eraticator model seems to get rave reviews over on Rimfirecentral.com and is still reasonable priced. It goes I believe up to 25x. It won't be a Weaver V24 but it runs a good $150 less. The support at Mueller seems to be top notch which when it comes to China made scopes is a huge factor. I feel most comfortable with them if I have to go China made just because I feel like they would make things right. Still if I can buy something not made in China I will.

I too bought a Mueller from E. Arthur Brown & Co. and have been very happy with it. For the best quality for your dollar though Burris is hard to beat. their lifetime warranty is 2nd to none. I have used their optics in some of the harshest environments in the world with nary a problem (Alaska F/V in the Bering Sea in the winter, deer hunt after offloading fish). If it can survive the salt water, cold/hot cycles and being dragged over hells half acre year after year without breaking or losing its seal; I am sold.

I have seen Tasco's literally self-destruct when mounted to 300 Win mags or .338's, try "Pointing it" at a large bull elk after this happens...We did manage to glue some makeshift iron sights on my friends rifle after he "Test Fired" it on the beach before heading up the mountain. Good thing he did, it was about three feet off and then the front objective lens fell out onto a rock.. Them Tasco's and the lower grade Bushnells are pretty much garbage if you ask me.

Bushnell Trophy. I used to use it on my 7 Rem Mag and it held up fine for that. Switched it to my rimfire because the AO goes down to 20 yards.

Weaver V-24 is a great value, it will cost $350+, but don't get a cheap scope "just because it's a rimfire." You want good glass and repeatable adjustments and that means spending some coin. Barska, Tasco, , BSA,and even low-end Bushnell scopes might work for you, might last a long time, might have clear focus and crisp image, and might hold zero when bumped. Most likely, if you like the rifle and shoot it a lot, you'll quckly grow frustrated with cheap optics and in the end, spend more money. Buy a good scope, and you'll buy only once.
