In 45 years I have had one broken extractor. I lost one operating handle when I accidently swapped two that were not interchangable from a retainer standpoint. I have had one shell latch come loose, and after staying loose I think I epoxied it in place because I don't remember getting it staked.
I should have a vehicle so good.
Yeah, I was going to say, I have an 1100 and it points very well.
It's an old Magnum (1971 mfg), and it is reliable. I think they once made them better. If you start 'smithing one, and really look inside, you'll never want one again, but somehow they violate the laws of nature and keep working. Like laws and sausages, you don't want to see how an 1100 is made.
My only real complaint, other than having to use a sling for long high-desert upland hunts because the thing is pretty !@#$ heavy, is that the trigger cuts my finger when my skin is dry -- like in the high desert in the Fall.
I find it hard to believe that Remington has never improved on the [strike]booby trap[/strike] trigger they use on their steel-receiver shotguns, pump and semiauto rifles. Can't they round that thing?
