Which states require CCW to list the carry firearm

in ny state, all hand guns have to be listed on your permit

you cant possess a hand gun that isnt on your permit
(if you have a hand gun that isnt on your permit,
the laws are pretty strict about what happens....very bad)

so....since you cant possess a gun not on your permit,
you can carry them all....although probably not good
to carry them all at the same time (smile) but they are
all listed...this becomes a problem if you have many hand guns

oh...and they have to be concealed too....no open carry here

and, of course, some are easier to carry than others
(and some, maybe, arent supposed to be carried...due to size)

in ny, it's called a license to carry (ltc) but it is also
a license to possess

there are, of course, limitations that each county can put
on them.....target, hunting, etc....and the "full" or unrestricted carry

hope this helps

New York City and New York State list the permitted firearms (make, cal and serial#) on your permit. If you carry any other than what is listed you are in a serious world of hurt.
Do gang bangers worry about this little quirk in the law?

Montana requires no listing or qualification testing although a sheriff may require the applicant to "demonstrate familiarity with a firearm" either in person or by proving completion of a firearms safety or training course/class. (Hunter Education, Military training, Firearm Organization sanctioned training, etc.).

I wouldn't like to have to list my carry pieces. Although I usually use one of three, I have 7 reasonable candidates for the task.

Michigan CCW license does NOT specify. You can concealed carry anything classified as a pistol, including, technically, a rifle or shotgun between 26 and 30 inches long, which is legally a pistol in MI. And there is no MI specification on number of allowed BUGs, either.

I also don't know if in California, for example, if you have to go back and amend or apend your application if you add to your personal carry options.

Answer is: Yes, you certainly do need to have it added before carrying it. And, of course, there would be a fee. As far as penalty, I am not really sure. But, I suspect it could/would be handled as if you did not have the permit - depending on officer.

Not only does Georgia not list the gun, no training or testing is required either. All it takes is a clean record and patience as they're not very fast - mine took 67 days to arrive (actually I picked it up at the courthouse)...

That's great! Now if you can just get rid of that infamous Public Gathering Statute,no carry on state Public Transportation(buses, trains, etc.)and start issuing non-resident permits everything will that much better.
Savannah is my favorite city in America to visit, but because of GA's ambiguous carry laws I usually end up leaving my Glock in the motel safe.
But,loving the city so much(like San Francisco)we visit anywhere and go disarmed.

I'm sure already mentioned but Idaho you don't even have to actually own a gun (or ever shot one) to get a CCW permit.

on my NV ccw it lists
make and model, not serial#

I just found this out - when I had a permit before each gun and serial # were listed. They also told me at the class that if you qualify with a revolver you can carry any revolver.

We are trying hard to get this fixed with HB 89 and HB 915. I wish the NRA had thrown their support behind HB 915 but they were pushing their own "parking lot" agenda and joined the party late. We have several active groups here in GA trying to fix our silly laws...

In CA, at least in my county, you can list 3 specific guns and their serial numbers on your permit and that is all you're allowed to carry. You can add or remove guns for a very minor fee, but can never have more than 3 at once. You do not have to qualify with a gun change on your permit. I change guns on my permit quite often.

Years ago, Virginia required that make, model, and caliber be listed. I cannot remember if serial number was required or not. You also had to go before the judge and tell him why you wanted the permit. It was up to the judge to grant or not. Since going to "shall issue," no information about the gun is required. If it is a hand gun and you can conceal it then you can carry it. Also, you can carry multiple guns at any time. If you can conceal them, they are fair game.
