Which to keep - EOTech 553.A65 or Aimpoint Pro

I wish I had more hands-on experience with those optics. I've never used an EOTech, just looked through one in the store. To my eyes the Eotech looked 'grainy' like a very low res monitor. The outer ring seemed way larger and brighter than it should be and seemed to obscure whatever I was looking at.

Yeah, when first turned on and inside a building the starting brightness level is too bright. It's about perfect for outdoors unless the sun is washing things out. The good thing is the EOTech has a big range of brightness adjustment, from nearly invisible to retina searing.

I have noticed that my friends with very good vision are a bit distracted by the pixelation of the EOTech. For people with a bit less than good natural vision it's less of a distraction. Especially when the brightness is turned down to allow good sight through to the target.

Short of having night vision gear, the low light usability of an EOTech is quite impressive.

Took a half day from work today to play at two ranges (indoor and outdoor, both dim and very bright conditions).

As noted, the Aimpoint is a bit more natural feeling (maybe because I'm used to traditional scopes), easier controls, and and just plain better looking on my AR. The Aimpoint seemed to do better in bright daylight than the EoTech.

HOWEVER, I noticed that my results down range were better with the EoTech. Significantly better indoors. And I change my thoughts on which optic allows faster target acquisition. Definitely the EoTech.

I also tried without my glasses. No, I won't try that again LOL (the days of me shooting without glasses are long gone). Almost a draw, but the Aimpoint's larger dot was of some help, but not a lot.

So EoTech wins by a hair. But I've decided to keep both optics and mount them on different rifles. I'll allow myself the guilty pleasure of different optics for different moods ... (hell, if my wife can use that logic for her 100 shoes, I can do it for two red dots...). I'll concede the point on battery life and replace the EoTech CRs annually, whether they're dead or not.

And if Warp says Aimpoint, I'm definitely going EoTech :neener: J/K

Hahaha! It sounds like both are good optics. I'm thinking the EO wouldn't work for me mostly due to the low battery life, and I think I have it narrowed down to the M21 and the PRO. But man I sure wish there was a way to actually try them out.:banghead: At this point I'm just guessing. Short of dropping $1500 on all three I'm pretty much gonna have to just flip a coin...er, a three sided coin!:neener:

That sounds like a great idea.
