Ruger LCR in 22 LR for compatibility with your carry gun and low cost training, otherwise, S&W 317 or 617 for plinking. I am a Smith guy so have both the 317 Kit Gun and the 617 ten shot revolvers. All are good choices, but suggest you stay with what you already know; hence, the LCR.

Don't forget the small framed Model 63. Really nice revolver in 22 LR. I just bought one. What can I say?

I have Model 17's and a Model 18 also. No 617's. There is something about the steel framed 3" Model 63 that really appeals to me. I think Ruger would sell a lot of the LCRx if they chambered it in 22 LR and possibly 22 mag. The LCR's are handy well made little revolvers.
