Which would you buy for a $100

My friends dad doesn't want it anymore. I cleaned it for him a few months ago so I hope I'll get first dibs on it.

Of course I test fired it when I cleaned it. It cycled perfect. I didn't worry about accuracy.

I think it is a little big for me, I had a hard time seeing through the sights.

If you buy the Mosin over the CETME, then..... :banghead:

Buy the CETME, if you don't like it then sell it and get a crate of Mosins. Or more. Reliable CETMEs are kinda hard to find. Most are cruddy Century builds.

Where did you find a CETME for $100? Buy it RIGHT NOW before it gets taken by someone else.

This. If I found them for $100, I'd spend every dime I had and then quintuple my money over the next few months. It's been quite a while since they were even under $500.

Well, if he's serious, I"ll buy it. I don't really like it or want it but it would be fun to shoot for a while and then sell it.

Afterall, Mosin's are a dime a dozen.

You may change your mind. They're a very robust rifle, and magazines are dirt cheap. A bit heavy, more recoil than other .308's and they do wreck brass, but they're reliable and sometimes quite accurate. My Century-built G3 is MOA @ 100 yards with any decent 150 gr. ball.

Buy it, sell it, then you are most of the way to an SVT-40. Now that is not a dime a dozen, but its sorta like a mosin if soviet rifles are your thing.

Does your friend's dad know that it's easily worth five times his asking price? I'd have a hard time buying so light from a friend's family member.

+1
Pay him at least mostly what it's worth.

Ripping off a friend will come back to haunt you sooner or later.

Yup, $100 is extremely low. No problem with a good deal, but that's stealing.

A $100.00 Cetme? Wow!

Just depends on what you prefer. I own a Mosin-Nagant 1891/30 and I absolutely love it! However, the .308/7.62x51 ammo is slightly cheaper, and the Cetme rifle is an outstanding design - much like the H&K G3. The Cetme is a semi-auto battle rifle and has better sights. The Mosin is cheaper to repair and simpler in design. I might just snap up that Cetme and you can buy a Mosin later (the Mosins are still selling for less than $100.00). Happy shooting! :)

Cetme vs Mosin.....no doubt about it, the Cetme is the better gun by FAR! If I am shooting a four foot long 9lbs bolt action I expect accuracy at leased on par with my featherweight guns and the Mosin is not even close. The Cetme is no match grade weapon either but at leased it is a semi auto, magazine feed, assault rifle, and I can appreciate that.

What should I buy for one thousand dollars... a junky station wagon with 200,000 miles, or a new Corvette?

Hm...

Both Rc's...I thought about that and decided it wouldn't be right. My friend is having his 2nd child in a few weeks and he needs the money more than me. I will inform them of the guns value, about $500.

You guys are the best!

I'll send you $200 right now, plus pay for shipping, that way you can get your mosin and I'll take the CETME.

Good for you for making the call on this one.

Friendship is far more valuable than a stellar deal on a rifle.
