Hey all, I have been going back and forth between which 1911 I want for my next purchase. It will basically be an all around gun. I have been looking at springfield loaded champ, dan wesson cbob, sti ranger II, and the mimber crimson carry. Just curious what y'all think would be the better buy. Thanks for your opinions.

I had a Springfield Loaded full size and my best friend has the Champ. They are great guns. I do believe though that my next 1911 might be a Kimber or Smith and Wesson. Every one that I have shot or handled has felt super nice in my hands.

Voted for the CBOB, but as I already have one slick 5", the CBOB seems like it might be easier to carry in a wider variety of dress, without the super-pointy bottom of the grip catching on clothes. Plus, they just look snazzy.

To each their own.

I voted for the STI Ranger II. I have never owned a Ranger II , but I have owned 2 STI 1911s and can attest to their quality and reliability. They rust very easily when carried , so more attention needs to be paid to surface protection. I had both of my STIs coated with duracoat/cerramacoat. The coating is more money, but I am not a fan of stainless steel in the white.....again a personal preferrence.

I noticed that you said that your future 1911 will be an all around gun, which that means different things for different folks, but I am guessing you want it for carry, range, Home Defense, and BBQs. For all around, the CBOB would fit the bill rather well. The CBOB is stainless so the surface is moderately protected from the everyday substances that it will come in contact with (sweat, rain, body oils, etc.). Stainless is rust resistant, not rust proof, but stainless is a lot better than standard uncoated carbon steel. The CBOBs get excellent reviews and are accurate. No MIM in the DWs , if that is a concern to you.

I stay away from Kimbers, but that just me .

Springfield makes some good stuff for a decent price. I have never owned any of their champion style pistols. I have owned several of their full sized 1911s and they are a good option as well.

Since you gave the option, Colt Commander!

American made, the orginal, good price and it is a Colt!

Of your list I would go DW or STI. Both seem to be good guns, just you can get the Colt for less money. The Colt will hold its value as well.

I voted other I would probably get a Kimber Pro CDP for all around carry or a Colt light weight Commander. Both choices would be in 45 ACP.

both Springer and STI are great choices, if i had the cash STI would be a little ahead tho

I voted for the Springfield since mine have been absolutely great. The good news is, based on your list, you're going to end up with a nice handgun any way you go.

This is a nice "problem" to have :)!
