I have always used triple 7 or pyrodex but was wanting to try something some of the newer powders. For those who have tried both, which one do you prefer and why. I'm shooting a 209x50 encore that groups very well with pyrodex, but I don't like the crud when cleaning.

If you are getting good groups with pyro why change? Yes it's dirty I know but price wise I don't see the advantage. I shoot a cva firebolt, 100 gr pyro, 240 gr saboted t/c shockwave, I use 11 caps and have no crud ring, yes I have to clean soon after shooting, but you should clean guns anytime you shoot. I think the crud ring comes from using 209 primers, but that just what I have seen.

ALL of it has its drawbacks. that is why they invented smokeless. if you have a good load, just stick with it, just keep it and go have fun. if not, then flip a coin, and see how it goes. the worst you will do is have to buy the other one to try that.

I would suggest BH209, that's what I use in my TC omega. I switched from 777 a few years ago and will never go back. I have shot over 25 consecutive shots at the range without cleaning the barrel and the accuracy is great.
The only issue with BH209 is you must clean the fouling out of your breech plug on a regular basis. If you have delayed ignition, it’s most likely due to breech plug fouling.

In addition, BH209 is non corrosive and non hydroscopic (will not absorb moisture).

Also use standard 209 shotgun primers. I prefer Winchester W209.

Neither one for me. Both those powders are very expensive. i will continue to use 777, Pyrodex at $13.99 per pound and Goex Pinnacle.
