I recently purchased my first handgun. It's an original Whitney Wolverine. As this is my first, I need advice on a good gunsmith familiar with this model. Sometimes the shell does not come out, so I'm guessing it needs a new extractor. Other times, it feeds, but gets jammed and will not fire. I love this beautiful gun, but I need to have a professional look at it. ANy recommendations? THANKS SO MUCH!

Olympic arms manufactures the gun now and if you need it worked on you can send it to them, their handgun shop is very good, If your gun is used it may just need a complete cleaning, 22 ammo is dirty and many times their is a build up of lubricant from the case that builds up in the chamber so when the case fires and expands it compresses into the gunk and it can cause the case to not extract, as far as feeding problems most of the time a semi auto jams it is the magazine, either the feed lips, follower, dented mag body or the spring is worn.

If your Whitney Wolverine is an original it was made between 1955 and 1962. It has some collector value that is more than a good 22lr shooter would cost. My only experience is with the current manufacture ones by Olympic and I can't say anything good about them. An elderly family member had to have one and it turned into a big dissapointment. As I recall after much trial there was a brand of 22lr that was fairly reliable, maybe CCI solid point, can't be sure. Keep the gun clean and try some different ammo as all are spec'd a little different and one might work when another won't. Contact OLympic and see if they will help you.
