.32ACP and .380ACP
I usually carry either a .32ACP BERETTA Tomcat or a SIG 232 .380ACP with an aluminum frame.
The SIG 232 has replaced my 5 shot .38 Special. There is just no comparison. The SIG holds 8 rounds, feels great in my hand, can be fired 150 rounds at a time at the range, without my hand getting sore and best of all, came with NIGHT SIGHTS.
The sights on the SIG are so much better than any of the fixed sight J-frame sized guns, I might as well be shooting a larger pistol like the GLOCK 19 or SIG 229. They are that good, for me at least.
It also helps that I can shoot the SIG better than any 5 shot .38 Specia I have tried. I have used CHARTHER ARMS, SMITH & WESSON and TAURUS models, both aluminum and steel framed.
I have carried the 5 shot .38 Special for many years when off duty. Then I tried the BERETTA Tomcat and found it concealed better and was much faster to reload.
I was carrying the BERETTA on a daily basis for about a two years when my wife fell in love with it and I went back to the S&W model 38 until I tried the SIG 230. I liked it so much, I bought the lightweight version of the 232 for carry.
I used .32ACP COR BON Powerball for carry in the BERETTA. I never found a hollow point that was 100% in it. The Powerball, with its polymer tip has been as reliable as ball ammo, for me.
I would also use this ammo in "CLASSIC" pocket guns chambered for .32ACP like the COLT 1903 Pocket Pistol or the WALTHER PPK. The COLT is a blast to shoot and quite accurate.
In the SIG, I use .380ACP REMINGTON 88 grain JHP. This ammo feeds as reliable as ball and is priced even lower that some ball ammo. I buy the hundred round boxes and use if both for carry and practice.
I have tried other ammo like the FEDERAL Hydro Shok round and it is only about 98% reliable in the SIG.
In the .38 Special, I carried FEDERAL Nyclad 125 grain hollow points. I hoarded a small stash for years and bought several boxes after they reintroduced it.
