Well i decided on the 6.5 grendel for long range and only want to buy the upper of this. I wanted a .204 ar to go varminting but that .204 lower wont fit on the 6.5 upper right? So if this is true i was going to get a complete .243so i had a lower for the 6.5 and was looking at the DPMS ar in 243 but didnt like the barrel on it and wanted to know if i could get a bigger bull barrel for it and also what are other AR companies who make it in the .243? Also does this( http://www.competitionshooting.com/catalogue/category33/product1215) look like a good upper in the 6.5 Grendel or does anybody know anything about it?

6.5 Grendel was designed to work with the standard AR-15 lower, same with the .204 Ruger . A .243 lower will accept uppers in .243, .260 Remington and .308/7.62 NATO.

the Only AR variant I have seen that requires a "dedicated Lower" is the AR50 in .50 BMG. It requires a Heavy mass hammer, single stage trigger, and removal of Buffer, Buffer detent and spring, as well as the Bolt catch.
All other AR variant calibers and uppers should fit any milspec lower. I have seen a few that fit poorly or the finishes didn't match so they looked bad but they function.

It's pretty simple, an AR10 lower will accept .243 uppers, as well as rounds like the .260 and .308.

Any AR15 lower will accept 6.5 Grendel, .204, .223, and numerous other calibers.

The 6.5 grendel is based on the 6mmPPC, which is in turn derived from the 7.62x39 Russian military case. Cae head is approximately 0.452

The 204 Ruger is based on the 222 Magnum case, IIRC. Case head is 0.383.
