I am looking for a good varmit load to shoot in my Tikka 243. Want something between 55 and 70 grain, maybe 60-65 grain since it is in between. What bullets and powders are you using?

H4350 and H414/WW760 have done well by me and my custom .243 Mauser varminter. Sierra and Hornady 75 grain HP's and 55 grain Nosler BT's will do sub 1/4" 3 shot groups at 100 yards and measured velocities for the 75's are 3450 fps, and the 55's cruise along at 4015 fps. To maintain good accuracy, I have found magnum primers a must with the two ball propellants mentioned.

As expected, these bullets have explosive terminal performance on Rockchucks and Groundhogs, and Crows disappear in a "black puff of smoke" when introduced to near mach four 55 grainers.

70gr Blitzkings do very well in my 1:9.25" twist Savage. Couldn't get the 55grs to group as well and the barrel will last longer with the (slightly) slower 70 grs.

Pet load for my Savage Model 12 w/Nikon Monarch 5.5X16.5 scope:

60gr Sierra HP bullet
Win case
PMC LR primer
41.7 gr AA-4064

On a good day (No wind) from sandbags, this load will shoot sub .5 MOA at 200 yrds. Even a very slight breeze will move these little bullets around.
Good luck.
