Looking for something to use with 55 grain noslers or 65 grain v-max for my 243. I already have both these 2 powders on hand. Anyone using either of these with the lighter 243 bullets and getting good results. The gun is a Winchester model 70, late 60's model. It is really shooting the Federal 55 grain noslers good, but they cost about $30 a box at the local store. Wanting to make something that does just as good.

I have great results with 4064 in my 6mm Rem 788 with the 62g Barnes Varmint Grenade.
Neither of these powders meter well through a powder thrower so I hand weighed all these rounds.

a few years ago i worked up a load for my rem 700 .243 with imr 4064 and 58grain v-max bullets. i forget the powder charge but it is in the hornady reloading manual. the muzzle velocity was about 3700 fps and the load shot half inch groups at 100 yards. it turned out to be good medicine for p-dogs.;)

I have had get results using 4064 in both of my 6mm rifles.

I just posted this in another thread nd saw this one. I use the IMR 4895 in my 243 with 55 Sierra Blitzkings. I tried both the blitzkings and Nosler BT's and found the Sierra's shot slightly better for me, but the Noslers still shot very well. I also used the IMR 4064 but found the IMR 4895 to shoot more consistent. I am not getting the best groups but I consistently get what I call 2 mating flies and a bystander, the bystander is within 1/2" of the 2 on each other and the bystander is always the third consecutive shot. I once took one shot, waited an hour, took another shot, waited another hour and took the third shot and had 1 hole in the target. With the IMR 4064 I was getting in between 1/2 and 3/4" groups in a triangle fashion. I am loading 44.5 grains of it with Federal Large rifle match primers with a 1:10 twist barrel. One thing I have found is it almost takes a barrel specifically made for these light bullets to shoot them well but it is doable with alot of playing in faster twists.

I'm shooting a Savage 11 accustock with a 58gr V-max & 40gr of IMR 3031. I'm getting 1/2" 3 shot groups at 100yds. I bought the V-max because the store I went to had them cheap, $18.00 per hundred. I usually shoot the Nosler 70gr BT. I use 45gr of H414 and also get 1/2" groups with it at 100yds.
