Anybody shot those new yugo Zastava M70 rifles?
Supposedly built on commercial Mauser actions.
Look good on pictures...

Who imports those besides Century?

Thanks

I believe Remington is importing them as model 798s. I could be wrong and I am a little sleepy.

The Zastava rifles are pretty nice. They are the same rifles that Interarms imported under the Mark X name/model(?) before the Yugo embargo and Chuck Daly after. Currently they are being imported by Remington:barf: as the M-798 without the options offered by CD:fire: .

Century has some you say?????:scrutiny:
Must check out Century........

The 30-06 Zastava/Daly I have had for 2-3 years is a good enough shooter, nothing specialy good or bad. Some machine marks that will have to be milled or polished away. Action slides more like peanut butter than melting butter. All that said, it hunts fine out of the box, and I expect longer term it will be the basis for a nice wood/blue custom.

It wouldn't surprise me if Remington required Zastava to improve quality control for the 798 line. With the Win 70 gone, I'll probably get a Rem 798 the next time I can justify another centerfire hunter.

The Remington 798 (but not the 799) has CRF. I'm less certain about the a-bolt (mine has been at the smith's so long I've forgotten how it functions) but I think it's a push feed, not a CRF.

Anyone got pics/specs on these rifles? I can't remember anything about them--but, like rockstar, I'm a little bit on the tired side.

A-bolt v. Rem 798

Z- Not so much a problem with the A-bolt as a problem with a local gunsmith who messed it up, plus I seriously disliked the BOSS and the molded stock was third rate. (Sent a PM with more details.) While I like the A-bolt well enough to upgrade and keep it, if starting out fresh, I would choose a Mauser like the 798 every time.
