Zastava PAP M70 AK

I don't have any experience with those particular rifle's. However, I have read many positive review's. Six hundred buck's for a Zastava factory built rifle will be hard to beat. They don't have a rear sling mount, however.

The one's that I have seen in person have a very nice fit and finish. I haven't fired one though.

I opted for the m70b1 from Centerfire. The m70b1 is built from surplus military parts so it has the bayonet lug and is built on a new thicker rpk receiver (edit: looks like the pap has the thicker receiver too.) It also has the flip up night and grenade sights. Just makes it more interesting to me.

None of the Yugo AKs have chrome lined barrels. Doesn't matter to me but some people get put off by that.

I'm sure that the pap will do everything that you want and you'll be happy if you go that route. Just telling you my choice and the reasons I paid a little more for the m70b1.

If this is the original PAP with the single-stack bolt, you don't want it.

Of this is the O-PAP version with the double-stack bolt, it is an excellent AK - one of the best you can get for the money.

O-PAP should have a bulged RPK receiver which is what is said in the AIMS description but the picture does not show so. It shows a regular AK receiver without a bulge. Also, I remember O-PAPs would come with surplus furniture instead of new furniture like in the picture, so the AIMS rifle should be N-PAP. Newer N-PAPs are with AK trunions (without bulge) and double stack bolts, older N-PAPs (1st Gen) have grind down RPK trunions (therefore no bulge on receivers) and single stack bolts and imported as single stack rifles and Century modified into double stack by opening the mag openings but did not change the bolts and cause feeding issues. This problem was fixed in newer N-PAPs. 1st Gen N-PAP should be all gone already, these rifles should be the new N-PAPs with double stack bolts, cross your fingers! The only thing is the rifle barrels are not chrome lined like Yugo SKSs. They were in mid-$500s at other vendors recently, so I say pass it!

"Better" is a subjective term. I picked up an o-pap from Bud's for slightly better price that what AIM is offering. It's a solid rifle for the price. It has the thicker receiver, double stack bolt, and original furniture. It took promag, tapco, and steel surplus mags with no issues.

Thanks HankC.

Here is a direct link to the photo (hope it works), its at the bottom of a long thread if it doesn't.

You definitely don't want the modified single stack bolt to be in a rifle re-converted to use standard double stack magazines as its going to be barely touch the rounds to strip them out of the mag. Its a testament to the AK generous tolerances that it'd work at all!

Once again, it goes to show you never should buy a Century gun sight unseen or not knowing what to look out for beforehand!

I had one of those M70 with the folding stock many years ago. I shot fine but was so heavy . I sold it and would much prefer a yugo SKS.

I've got a 'new' NPAP, and I love it. It has the double-stack bolt, and the furniture looks great. Better than most AKs in that same price range. Quality is absolutely on par, or very close, to Arsenal.

BUY WITH CONFIDENCE.
