I'm trying to decide between a .40 SW CZ75 and a .40 SW Browning HP. Anybody have thousands of rounds through their CZ? How is it holding up?

I don't own many guns but I shoot what I do have ALOT.

I've shot about 1250 rounds through my CZ75 in 40SW, maybe more definately not less. There was one problem concerning FTE's mainly grease in the channel and a weak extractor spring. After that 500 rounds through it with no problems till my dad tries to qualify with her(7 FTEs out of 100 rounds, she dont like him at all). An observer thought he might be limp wristing it  beats me but oh well. The CZ has replaced my 1911 as my main range gun.

I know of one guy that has used a CZ75B SA in 40 and has gone to several shooting schools with it (probably 3,000 rounds there) and is one of two guns he competes with it (another several thousand rounds). Don't know if anything has broke or has been replaced (I'm sure springs and slide stops, maybe more) but he still carries it today.

I had an EAA Silver Team (CZ75 design) in 40S&W that a guy used as his competition piece for a season. I'd guess somewhere over 10,000 rounds through it. But they were the lightest hand loads that would make major.

Ok so far, we're two for two.

Reason I'm asking is that I'm shy of 9mm guns that have been upscaled to bigger calibers. I had a Witness .45 that cracked a frame on me in under 2K rounds.

At first, I didn't think I had a thousand rounds through my CZ. But now I think about it, I know I've put at least a thousand rounds through my CZ-75B .40 since I bought it four years ago. I haven't had a hiccup yet with it. I take it with me 95% of the time when I go to shoot. It's the first gun I bought and I will keep it until someone takes it from my cold dead hands. :D

Speaking of cold hands...the first time I shot my CZ, it was about 15 degrees outside. My roommate had a S&W Sigma .40 and that CZ really looked awesome with no problems compared to the Sigma with 5-6 FTFs from light primer strikes.

CZ 40's arent an underengineered 9mm conversion. The frame is plenty heavy for the 40's recoil. The slide is slightly different in the name of aesthetics and thats about it.

I have many many thousands of rounds of HOT 9mm through my Alloy framed CZ's and IMO, they are worse for the gun than 40's are.

Shoot well.

Remember that CZ-75s were designed from the outset to shoot thousands of rounds of HOT Euro subgun +P+ level ammo so .40 isn`t much of a stretch. Marcus
