I didn't know Beretta made a Colt SA clone until recently. Don't recall seeing one at my LGS mostly Ubertis and Piettas. They must not make the news very much. So tell me about them... how well do they shoot? What about quality, fit and finish?

I have one, 5 1/2" barrel, blued and color case finish, in .45 Colt. I think they are essentially Ubertis as I believe Beretta aquired Uberti some years ago. Fit and finish are great as is the build quality of the gun. Mechanically the action itself is tight and the trigger pull light and smooth. Overall I'm very staisfied with my Beretta Stampede and would recommend it for someone looking for an affordable Colt SAA copy.

I don't have one, but there has been plenty of discussion in the past. I bet the search function would turn up a few threads.

If I'm remembering right, they seem to be well-liked, well-made revolvers. The only complaint had to do the with case-color finish on the frame, which was a coating, rather than real case hardening.

I got one in stainless, 5 1/2'' .45 about about a year and a half a go. I have close to 1500 rounds through it with zero problems. It has a great trigger and finish on it. Much better than any of my Rugers. Not claiming it is better than the Rugers, just the trigger, fit, and finish. I only shoot moderate loads through it. Would never push it to Ruger levels. Great revolver and would buy another.

The Stampede is made by Uberti but is different from the standard Uberti because it has a transfer-bar safety so you can carry it safely with all six cylinders loaded.

I bought a Beretta Stampede used a couple of years ago. The "Marshal" model in 357 with a 3 1/2" bbl. It was made in 2006 and has a transfer bar. It's the first and LAST Beretta I will ever have and I wouldn't still have it if I could find some sucker to bail me out of it.

It has a malfunction in that once the hammer is at full cock, you can not lower it other than by firing it. Not to cool when the RO calls a cease fire and because I can't rotate the cylinder to clear it. Had to pull the pin and drop the whole cylinder. Beretta's warranty sucks. Only good for one year and only to a new purchaser. But for $75 they will check to see what's wrong and tell me how much to repair; shipping at my expense.

Howdy

I think the reason you do not see one in your LGS is they are no longer in production.

Pretty sure about that.

Isn't that normal in a SAA? When cocked, the cylinder should not rotate, should it? Easing the hammer down is the only option, other than firing.

I have the old west version, 45 LC 4-3/4"

Have about 1000 rounds through it over the last 1.5 years. It has been flawless. We shoot CAS, CFD and for the heck of it. Never had an issue.

My sons have Uberti basic SAAs for CFD, I have the Beretta. In a pinch a few weeks ago, I let me oldest (14) use the Beretta as his was not clean and it was the final round for the championship. His challenger had an El Patron, one of the best already souped up from the factory.

He went from a .800 time to a .643 with my Beretta. It is much smoother than the Uberti basic SAA. But probably not as smooth as a souped up Vaquero.

I have ordered spring kits for the Ubertis, but just ordered another matching Stampede Old West as I could only find one for sale. I wanted a pair for CAS shooting.

I would say it is discontinued, as it is on the Beretta Archive site now.

I love mine. If you find a new one and register it with Beretta, you get a 3 year warranty. Uberti gives you 5 years. If you get a Y grade, the warranty is 60-90 days.

Thanks,
Norm
