Just out of curiosity I wanted to post this Question. I realize that we don't own every MN out there but with what we have I would like to know for research purposes. I am also posting this question on a couple other sites to check there as well. I will let it run for a while and post what I find out periodically. Photos are welcome and encouraged.

I have a 1943 M44 Izhevsk.

I bought mine last year for $80. All matching numbers. I new nothing about what to look for at the time and just got lucky. Shoots great.

My 91/30 is all matching, and I think my M44 is forced-- bolt and receiver match, but butt plate does not....it still shoots like a mule, and fun as heck...;)

My finn M39 matches but it technically does have lineouts and force matching.

I thought lineouts were SOP for the Finns. They bought or captured Russian parts, so many Finnish Mosins were "born" with lined out parts.

I have two Russian 91/30's and one Polish M44 that are all numbers matching.

My Finnish M27 has a no number magazine floorplate and a non-matching butt plate. The bolt/barrel match but also has a lined out number on the bolt.

No counterbores on any of them either.

I have over a dozen MN's.
91/30's
M38
M44's
M39's

All matching. No counterbores.
The only ones I have that don't have matching #'s are the
two Chinese T53's.
But I have never seen an all matching T53.

I have an all matching, 1939 Tula 91/30, with finn capture marks that was not refurbed, still has the '39 Tula stock cartouche. All parts original and matching, with stamped Tula star. Got it at a gun show in last month for $150.

What parts have the serial numbers?and does mismatching numbers affect anything at all? (Just so I know though i guess whenever a m44 or 38 pops up I'll grab it anyway.)

4 of 6 have no forced matching 1 is a frankenmosine and the other has a mismatched magazine plate, none are counter bored. I've had crappy luck on all my other c&r rifles though, all that speak to me (and have crisp rifling) are miss matched ('cept my K-31 misstress).

I have several all matching Mosins, down to the original numbers on the buttplate and magazine baseplate, including a Westinghouse 1891, several 91/30s, and all matching unissued M44s from the USSR, Poland, and Hungary.

I have 30 mosins and 22 are matching (sorta). All my Finns have restamped bolts that match the receiver - that is just the way the Finns did things when they rebuilt the rifle on older Soviet receivers.

I have a 1928 Tula former dragoon converted to 91/30 all matching.
Gotta love the full syrillic writing on the 1928 and earlier mosins, its almost a paragraph.

Sorry, should also have added no line outs or force match. Just all natural the way it was made.

You should use the

button when you are able. Doing so reduces the confusion that ensues when some folks only read the first post and immediately hit "reply".

All the numbers match on mine, with the exception of the bayonet. I want to sporterize one, but kind of want to keep the one I've got intact, since it's actually whole. I'll probably just pick up another one to mess with.
