I shoot a Remington R25 which is the DPMS rifle with Remingtons name on it. It is chambered for .308 rather than Nato, and has a tight chamber. Although Remington factory ammo worked perfectly, I had trouble getting factory Federal Power Shok ammo to cycle past the first loaded magazine shot. Therefore just to be safe, I bought an RCBS small base die set & a Wilson Case Length Gauge.
I set the sizer to only set the shoulder back .002" from where it was post-fired from the R25's chamber, trimmed it, added CCI 200's, 41.5 gr/ IMR 4895, and finished with 165gr Nosler Ballistic tip bullets, pressed in just enough to load trouble-free into the magazines. (the magazines prevent reloads from even approaching the lands in the chamber so they are the limiting factor for cartridge length.)
Result was ammo that cycled perfecty like the Remington Factory ammo did, and my 5 shot, 100m groups were 1 inch and better....first try at the range on a cold snowy slightly breezy day. I was pleased.
I like the rifle....my only wish was that it was as light as a .223.
BTW, if you want a rifle that will cycle cheap Russian Fodder, you might look for a Nato chambered version....my R25 won't.
