.380's

I carry anyone of three .380's and feel as many others have said, armed enough to either use it for a fast retreat or if needed, for a fatal hit, most occations of s.d. happen within a very few feet and for me, Speer gold dot .380's from any of mine will almost assuredly put an end to hostilites! For concelment in light clothing my 232 sl or ppk/s fill the bill nicely, and maybe the BDA IS A BIT BULKY FOR A 380, BUT IT LIKE THE OTHERS, SURE WILL PUT THE RDS WHERE U INTEND IF U HAVE DONE UR PART AND PRACTICED OFTEN!! Even have a dinky little kel tec 32 that i slip into pocket at times and I FOR one would sure hate to be force fed 8 rds of that " useless" rd!!

Just sold my favorite....SIG p232. A darling of a 380. I really loved it. Sold it to a co-worker when I realized I rarely got to shoot it and I wanted to free up some cash since I have a baby on the way.
I will definitely buy another later....

I've got a Colt Mustang PocketLite 380 in the gun safe. I used to carry it when I couldn't conceal my 1911. I then found out the PocketLite was worth far more than I paid for it (new) and put it aside.

I'm one of those people who have toxic skin and oil .. if I touch something metal, it will either corrode or rust. I will destroy a leather watch band in a matter of a couple of months and my MacBook Pro case (some sort of aluminum alloy) isn't looking so good these days. I'm really careful with my pistols, but it's an uphill battle to keep them from at least pitting... especially something like the PocketLite which sometimes ends up in my pocket in the summertime.

I never felt particularly good about carrying that thing cocked and locked (it's SAO there's no grip safety) anyway.

I haven't been able to wear off or corrode through the black polycoat on my CZ's, so I'm pretty happy..

I am in the same situation as Stevemis. I have two little Colt 380's, but learned of their value and put them in them back in the vault. The only reliable defensive round was Cor Bon's powerball. The didn't feed jhp rounds well, but these hot little numbers worked great.

Kel-Yec P3-AT works great for TEXAS summers...

In a Pocket or a UBG Slider... when necessary...

I now carry a Stainless Taurus PT58HC .380 (19 + 1 ) most of the time, or my Baretta Tomcat 3032 .32 ACP for deep carry! Perfect of options (my opinion)

This is Taurus 2nd generation of the .380 and has been improved from the first somewhat. The first were stil good firearms though. The fit and finish
has been improved like with all Taurus guns and the added capacity is nice. I carry in a wild bills G-Code A-0001 which is for a Walther P99. This guns is very accurate ( mine was out of the box ) all I want is either pachmeyer grips with laser and or tritium sights....

Go here and you will aslo find that the .380 and the .32 are not as whimpy as one thinks.. www.internetarmory.com read all the self defense links.

The only .380 I own is a bersa thunder. I normally only carry it as a backup gun (which is almost never, because I don't think I need a back-up gun), but sometimes when the situation requires a smaller and more concealable package I will use it as a primary.

Yep, I like my .380's........

..........and my friends are starting to like them also. They all have .45's that they like to shoot but hate to carry. Now they're all talking about getting something easier to carry. My .380's are easy to shoot and carry. The list consists of Sig 232, CZ83, and Bersa Thunder .380. The Sig is my usual carry, whereas the CZ83 is worn when the climate is a little cooler or when I absolutely know that I'm going into a neighborhood that is less than desirable. The Bersa became a locker queen when the Sig popped up at a great price, but it shoots quite well also. I've also noticed on a lot of forums and magazine articles that many people are looking into easier to carry calibers. I know that there are comparably sized or even smaller pistols out there, but they are usually DA only. I like DA/SA pistols. And for my disclaimer, I don't claim to know every pistol out there so it's a pretty good chance that there is a DA/SA 9 or 40 out there that is as small. I've never felt undergunned. On an informal plinking day, a friend and I popped some rounds into a stainless pot. Naturally his .45 punched through it. But low and behold, so did my lowly .380( Remington 88 grainers). And to answer that last question, I don't keep an extra in my truck.

I routinely carry the Bersa .380 in a Don Hume IWB. It is just so comfortable to carry and very reliable. I love mine and it seconds as my son's range gun so it gets plenty of practice. I normally carry ball ammo but am going to look into the silvertips and corbon's mentioned here.

380's

If you like to shoot a 380 and are confortable with it, carry it. I have a Colt mustang plus 2 and an AMT backup (single action) in 380 and feel fine carring either one. In the end its all about shot placement, and having a gun when you need it. A 44 mag in the car is no good to you while you are being mugged at the ATM.

I've been known to carry my Sig P232 in a Galco ankle holster when an IWB holster and larger weapon is not appropriate for whatever reason.

P3AT (first generation) in a Hedley pocket holster, when the pockets are too small for the 642 or the Kahr PM9.

My wife carries a P3AT also.

preferring something that starts with a 4 or at least a 9mm.

Well then you should have no trouble with 380 as it is 9x17/ 9mm/short Its is a 9mm .I just think of the other 9mm as a 9mm/long.

Walthers PPK/S for years Ket tec in Pocket Corbon DPX now in all 5 of my 380's

Kel-Tec P3AT loaded with Federal HydraShocks or Corbon Powerballs whenever I can't carry a larger gun.

I carry a Seecamp LWS380 whenever I'm wearing pants.....and never have to leave it home due to concealment/weight/inconvenience concerns.

If my circumstances allow a bit more firepower, I'll slide the S&W 640 .357 Magnum in the waistband, with a pair of Barami HipGrips holding it in place.....but the Seecamp will still be in my pocket.

PPK/S, a fairly new addition. Easy break-in. Accurate little thing, for what it's designed for. MUCH better to shoot than a P3AT. Eats anything (unlike my P3AT) --- and I've tried about eight different loads, from Magtech to Cor Bon. Love it.
