Federal 9mm luger 115gr,1000 ammo for $220 CAD plus tax. even on this pricing ,the owner of gun shop said that's pretty good blow-out price, take it asap. it sounds my first handgun would cost me much money for shooting practice.:cuss:

it could be becaue it is considered a mil typ eround? Lts of countries severely restrict mil type rounds, or jack the price way up.

No. All 9mm (Para and Mak) would be considered a military calliber regardless of manufacturer or quality because an army has issued that round. Some clueless lawmakers seem to think that this makes the round more dangerous than say .40 S&W or .44 Mag.

I had not heard that this was the case in Canada. Are you sure that other calibers are cheaper relative to US prices?

Since they want to get rid of guns, but can't seem to succeed they maybe raising the price of ammo as an alternative approach. What is the price of ammo in other calibers?

other calibre such as .40/1000 rounds for $260, .45/1000 rounds for $360,but 7.62*39 is much cheaper, even cheaper than .22

Our Ammo is generally more expensive than the US. Probably due to a few reasons.

1. Exchange rate (not so much an issue these days)
2. Shipping costs (the stuff comes from the US and it's heavy)
3. Competition (In the US, the large chain stores like Walmart, etc. stock pistol ammo. In Canada the large department stores like Walmart, Canadian Tire just stock rifle/shotgun ammo).

Where I shop 9mm is 9.99/50 or 17.99/100, 40.S&W is 12.99/50. Much cheaper to load your own.

Try S&B 115gr FMJ. It is made in the Czech Republic. I know Canada used to get a lot of their CZ's. Here in America, it runs about 1/2 the price of Federal.

thanks a lot! i just got another pricing for Winchester 9x19mm Parabellum(115gr RN,124gr RN or 147gr RNFP,pricing is same.),is 199.95 canadian dollars plus 14% taxes. it sounds acceptable?

Given that the current exchange rate is 1.1297, that would make the same ammo roughly $190CAD when converting from US$ and the Ammoman price.

That does not seem all that dramatic a differrence.

ouch on that tax. but don't bet for on second , that our gilrlie men on the Hill would do the same thing, if they think they can get away with it.

Loonie,

If you don't want to purchase 1000 rounds you can buy smaller bulk sizes of 9mm at WholesaleSports. They are out of Western Canada if you haven't heard of them. They have 500 rounds of UMC 9mm for $94.99 or $9.99/box for UMC, Winchester, etc. A little cheaper but not much different from Marstars.

"phorvick,

We have a 15% tax.

Loonie, tks."

Unless you live in Alberta than no Provincial Tax. If you buy out of Province I think you only have to pay the 6% GST right?
