Why buy a Scar?

DukeCooper brought up an outstanding benefit I left off of my list of its attributes, which is a fact, it’s VERY low recoil in 7.62, especially when considering it’s light weight

And 5.56 with suppressor feels like a 22

Being totally unfamiliar and having read only very limited excerpts, at least two facts caught my attention:

FN-designed and piston operated.
It seems that one could do Far worse than have a FN-Herstal design. I "fell" for FN's design of their FAL years ago.

Had I not invested in some other rifles, and also seeing the Price of a SCAR, they would (otherwise) certainly inspire me to spend hours reading about them.

I was interested in the SCAR when I had the itch for a semiauto .308 but the itch got scratched with an M1A
