Why Did a VP9 Hurt My Trigger Finger?

Finger biting is known issue with guns, period. My BHP gets the web of my hand occasionally after 25 years of shooting it. 1911s do the same if they don't have an extended beavertail. The beavertail can you, too. I've seen Glocks take a chunk out of a thumb that rode to high up behind the slide. I've had the scope of a rifle nearly break my nose on several occasions.

The one thing these issues all have in common is that they're training issues. If you're too lazy to train around known issues then by means, get a different gun. Be aware though that it will have issues of it's own.

The trigger dongle probably doesn't help, either. If it sticks out at all, it will exacerbate the problem. Lots o folks grind down the dongle, just a little, on a Glock.

I suspect troubles with a grip safety are very common for shooters who shoot with both thumbs pointing forward. Most shooters who shoot with both thumbs forward will have a higher grip on the gun. You are talking about 99% of your top shooters who use the same grip. You can make it easy to shoot a gun with a grip safety by shaving the safety. Shaving the safety is not expensive nor does it disable the grip safety. It just takes much less pressure to deactivate the grip safety.

When you shoot with you thumbs crossed it is more difficult to shoot Glocks and small pistols like the Ruger LCP.
Johnny, if you need to use crossed thumbs to shoot an XD or a 1911, you are an outlier.

Finger biting is a known issue with HK pistols. The best thing to do is look at another brand and avoid the issue all together. When finger biting is so common someone has set up a service to fix the triggers on HK pistols the problem is widespread. Get a Hi Point or anything to avoid the need for band aids or shooting gloves.

Finger biting is *not* widespread on HK pistols, in fact it is quite rare. The reason there are folks who will do alterations is because they are so good the owners want to make them work.

"Get a highpoint" - Now you're exposed.

Where do you live? I have a new 995TS. You bring any HK that a civilian can buy and your wallet. I bet that HK malfunctions before the Hi Point. I am not talking junk either. If I am exposed it is because I have actually shot the guns. I am not a parrot who repeats what he has read in a magazine or says what his internet buddies think is popular.

I have a 995 Classic that is over 10 years old. Shooters of all skill levels have shot the gun. I cannot recall that gun malfunctioning a single time. The only thing that has happened to the Classic is I broke the front sight hauling it around in my toolbox with no case. I am pretty sure I put a hydraulic jack on top of it to break the front sight.
