It's simple.

All the kids who didn't get spanked, didn't play dodge-ball, didn't work, didn't have to earn their grades and/or play a sport to win are now voting.

In their world the good guy always wins and there's no such thing as a 'bad' person - just a 'troubled soul'; in such a world, why would ordinary citizens need to protect themselves?

Is the anti gun movement getting stronger? I don't believe so but I haven't seen statistical evidence either way. I think that the younger voters are a bit more apt to support individual rights even if they vote for mostly liberal candidates. From what I have read in many RKBA forums many gun owners are supportive of things such as gay marriage which they view as big government stepping in the way of personal liberty with no basis in Constitutional law. I think that the lines between Democrat and Republican are not so clearly defined by these things anymore. In legislation that hopes to remove personal liberties such as RKBA I think that the growing trend in America is to resist the legislation. These liberties are immediate, things like government programs and higher taxes are gradual increases that seem to slowly pile up unnoticed. There's my $.02.

Just remember that Pro-gun or Anti-gun makes little difference. It is which way all those in between throw their weight (votes) that matter.

It's that simple. Don't like it if you don't want to, but that's it. I honestly hope the Republicans can work their way out of the hole they are in. IMO, this stimulus plan may have the effect, but it pretty much screws us.

I hate to refer to people as sheep, but for the sake of this analogy, just bear with me.

The voters are sheep and the politicians are wolves. Whenever one of the sheep is eaten, they all band together and angrily cry "We need better wolves!"
