Why do YOU want a high-end/custom 1911?

While a $1900 SA TRP is nothing to scoff at, a $3600 Knighthawk is still better.

I guess the question we are asking is: Is it $1700 better? What do you get for that $1700 when compared to an Ed Brown? I am not saying it is not worth it because I don't know the answers so I'll ask someone that does know.

You get this: http://www.nighthawktactical.com/t3/comp/T3-comp1.jpg

Possibly the best 1911 ever made. I wasn't kidding when I said a ragged hole at 25 yds as fast as you can press the trigger...mag dump style!

While I don't own a 1911 mself, my father-in-law is an aficienado, and has has a collection probably valued around $80-90K. I have shot some of the highest end 1911s made, and by far, the Knighthawk T3 Comp is the best. It makes mediocre shooters look like pros and great shooters look like they will the bullets into the target. You really have to shoot one to understand.

So yes, I would say it is worth it if you can afford it. All things relative.

Audio has its extremes. Here's a link on how to spend around $2 million on a sound system: http://www.thesmokingjacket.com/humor/expensive-home-entertainment-components

My family was po' and in college my sound system has instructions on using a penny to adjust the weight on the turntable arm. Later in life I spend some money on a system with a dedicated room for it. I think my childhood has me willing to buy nice things, but never 'over the top'.

I've fully stripped a 1911 and was hard pressed to see six grand in parts.

I have a couple of custom 1911's that were made to be exactly what I wanted them to be. It took around $2500 each to make that happen. But, my need was not to have a 'top of the line' gun, just good self-defense guns. I'm set with these and no longer look for handguns to purchase.

i thought the same thing

I thought the same thing until i held Les Baer.......now i own one.
