Why hasn't the market for a good disposable gun been filled?

This might be the worst idea I have ever heard.

Why would anyone buy such a thing? The only possible market would be a criminal who wants a gun to toss.

:scrutiny:

Actually......the idea has been recently thought of.....i dont know why i didnt remember this earlier....

A LOT of people with low incomes would avail themselves of an inexpensive defence handgun if they could afford it.

Back in my paycheck to paycheck days, I bought a RG 22 for $25.00 because that was all I could afford. If I got robbed I would have to choose between missing the rent or missing a car payment. I could always sleep in the car. I couldn't drive my room to work. I've still got it. It keeps me humble.

What about a four-round pepperbox chambered in .45 snakeshot? Some kind of solid-state, or piezo priming, perhaps? Piezo-triggered magnesium-oxygen flashbulbs? There's quality e-matches that run on a single AA battery and burn at over 4500 degrees -- perhaps something like that would work?

Snakeshot is one of the few places I can see something like this working. Generally you have more than a single second to burn some cordite, so a lock time of a quarter second isn't something to ruin your day with... and if they came with an Energizer L91 lithium AA, it'd drive up the cost by a whole buck and make ignition much faster and more reliable. Twist the knob to advance to the next barrel, and you're good to go next time.

Well, basically, it has kinda been covered, but... short of an unarmed populace who just needs something (the Liberator)... or spy assassin type folks, it just doesn't make since.

Frankly, I wouldn't want a disposable gun myself, unless I were wanting something I would want to throw away after use.

Generally, those uses are frowned upon.

Hi-Point!

Hipoint Hipoint Hipoint! :banghead:
There's really no excuse not to own a firearm when your price point is $150 new, possibly less used. You can have a 9mm in six months by setting aside $25/mo or three months on a budget of $50/mo.

In light of that, you would have to see a serious step down in price to justify a one time use firearm.

what about disposable magazines? I was thinking about this the other day, it doesn't seem hard to to make a mag out of polymer, that you could buy on a blister pack at a gun store, already pre-loaded. As for why you might want one, for practice, one could dump the magazine without worrying about any consequences from it hitting the ground, I keep my practice mags seperate from carry ones for this reason. Also, maybe you're goin' someplace , out in the bush say where if you dropped the mag it might not be easy to find, with these it'd be no big deal.

I believe the Stoner M16 was designed using 'disposable' magazines. But GI's kept reloading them despite the fact they were designed to be left in the field...

As for disposble, how about the Light Antitank Weapon!

*facepalm*

That's what I want my wife to have for defense... a Bic gun.

You know, I carry a "throwaway gun" as my conceal piece... just a little Keltec P3AT... and it's had about 1,500 rounds through it without a hitch. It's a "throwaway" because the price to use ratio was such that if the slide gets a little pitting, ehh, whatever... if I lose it in a car crash or something, ehh, whatever... but I know it's going to WORK. And with a little bit of care and maintenance, most likely it will work every time I go to use it.

Suggesting a "disposable gun" is like that idea where people bought cheap DVD's that would stop reading after a week. A waste of time, effort, and resources.

This did, however, spur the thought of guns for rent. But that could open up a huge can of killer bees.

to be honest this is why i do like some gun laws. The type of weapon asked for would be the first gun used to kill people.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Ok, it's time to turn off the TV and please, put the Kool-Aid down. It's been heavily spiked with mis-information
