why I have to do when selling my gun?

Sadly I have to sell my gun, and several friends are interested on buying it.

But I want to know what I need to do during the sale so nothing will be pinned back to me after the sale. What kind of paperwork do I have to do?

I have heard of people just selling the gun to another without anything on paper or anything, though that is not comforting to me.

The legalities really depend on what state you are in. But typically i would get a dated bill of sale with both your names (and signatures) on it. If possible get a copy of his Drivers License number on it as well. That should cover you if it ends up somewhere that it shouldnt. The idea is to be able to prove that you sold it in good faith prior to and bad deeds commited with it.
