Why I may be facing a Kahrevolution

I have owned a Kahr MK40 for quite a while now. Since the late 1990s... maybe 12, 13 years. Frankly, it's never been my favorite. In fact, it almost never got out of the safe. It was small, but too heavy for pocket carry. Several times I've recommended against people buying this gun because since it was too heavy for pocket carry, it would be relegated to hip carry. And hip carry meant one could carry a different gun with higher capacity and longer sight radius, etc. I have quite a collection of pistols that are capable of that.

Then I recently bought the PM9 and everything's changed. Tiny, light, & reliable. And it may not always be carried in my pocket, it may in fact ride in an IWB holster much of the time. I have undergone such a change in opinion, I'm now thinking the Kahrs could just about fill my every CCW need. I now have a hankering for the PM45. In my mind, I could see these two pistols filling all my CCW needs.

Anyone else finding themselves falling for these little Kahrs?

You should have little problem finding second-hand hardly used PM45 at your local gun shop.

I bought a PM9 when I got my CCW back in April. It's a nice little pistol and I carry it daily.
I carried it in cargo shorts front pocket until it started getting cooler recently here in FL.
I ordered a Simply Rugged owb Cuda because I couldn't get it out of my jeans pocket easily.
I can't seem to get used to the iwb holsters.
The Cuda works well for me as does the Kahr.

I have a CM9 and I really like it. I like it so much I am considering buying a CW9 to carry days when I can carry larger. I could see it replacing my S&W 3913 because it would DAO. I have a hard time transistioning from DA to SA and have found I really like DA revolvers. I find the Kahr pistols to have a smooth trigger and in calibers that are economical to shoot.

I have a PM9, MK9, K9, CW40, and PM45. Other than the CW40, all my Kahrs get carried a lot, and shot even more. Especially the MK9, and the K9. For some reason, these two seem to be easy to shoot, and accurate as heck.

Love my K40. In my mind it's the perfect size for a "all-around" belt gun. It disappears under just a t-shirt, and is never big or bulky enough to get in the way. I like carrying my M&P9 as well, but sometimes, it's just too big.

OP- I think if you tried out a K40 instead of the MK40 you might be pleasantly surprised. The K40 offers the full grip and long sight radius that the MK40 lacks, but does not become bulky at all in a belt holster.

To carry my K40, I use a Mitch Rosen belt holster on a Desantis gunbelt. Perfect combo for me.

Ah, now you are coming around. MK for IWB and the PM in the pocket for backup.

I had sufficient negative issues with my PM9 early on. I'm not looking to try to get more firepower out of almost the same platform. Especially when they will be used IWB or OWB.

I have been thinking about a P or CW 45 though for IWB. Nice slim and light single stacker would be nice for winter carry.

My K9 has been great, very easy to shoot accurately with that nice DAO trigger. Personally I think it takes the flinch away, gives your brain more time to relax.

Not really sure why they went single stack though. The gun is certainly wide enough to support a slightly staggered double magazine, maybe 9+1? Oh well.

I have a PM9 and a K9 and both are fine guns, but I do have one problem with them, I want more capacity and I think it's long past time that Kahr increase the capacity of their pistols.

CCW weapon

My CCW weapon is a Kahr PM9 DLC with regular sights. Has been for a few years now. Zero issues. I do shoot tighter patterns with the 124gr. +P Gold dot ( My CCW round ) than the WWB 115gr. but every round shows up on paper LOL ! Very secure with My choice for CCW and enjoy practicing often........WVleo

I was resistant to jump on the Kahr bandwagon for a long time. I was carrying a Ruger LCP for some time, but never felt confidant enough about a .380's terminal performance. One of my buddies had a Kahr PM9, and constantly urged me to try it out. So I did. Then I bought one. Great little carry pistol that is very well made. After buying it, they came out with the CM9. If you're on a budget, that would be the one to go with. It doesn't have the night sights, and the barrel is not polygonal, but it's a lot cheaper. Good to go either way.

I bought a used PM9 on impulse, but it's quickly become my favorite lately. I then made the mistake of renting a K9 and fell in love with it. Trying to resist the urge, but I'm afraid that one is going to follow me home soon.

I just hope my wife lets me keep it!

I was looking for a small semi auto. Stumbled into a PM9 after reading all the horror stories on the Kimber Solo. This is one accurate, light weight, fun gun to shoot and carry. It now is a toss up between my 340pd and my KAHR
PM9. So far it has handled all my reloads with a wide variety of powders. Daily carry ammo is Hornady Critical Defense. Holster is Garrett's Silent Thunder. Leather lined Kydex.

I have to chuckle when I read this. Not at you, but at myself... well and at all us gunners as a group. At one point early on, I carried a small revolver but I always wanted more capacity, more capacity. So I carried a Glock 23 or at least a Glock 27 and the like. Sometimes a Kel-Tec P11.

Well, here I am wanting something smaller again. All my life's a circle.

340, why'd you go with leather-lined kydex? Just have too much of that pesky money that you needed to get rid of? Obviously I'm asking "If you wanted leather so it'd be easier on your finish, why did you choose not to get an all leather holster?" Doesn't leather under kydex make it unnecessarily thick? It's certainly a handsome carry rig. I do like the hooks at the base of the belt fastener.

Here is what mine started as back in the day when I was trying to like it as a pocket pistol.




Here is what it looks like now. CT and Pearce extension in an IWB holster.




I took care of the capacity inferiority sensation after carrying "low cap" pocket guns.

S&W M&P 9Pro (17 rounds of 147 grain) a Walther P99AS in .40 (13 rounds) and a S&W M&P .40c (10 rounds of 165 grain). Problem solved.




Now that I have that out of my system a Kahr P or CW 45 with 8 rounds of "flying ashtrays" might be interesting.
