If you have a gp100 why get a 686?
Exactly, they are too me just competitors. Your saying that you don't like full under lug revolvers because they are heavy. Then as far as a Smith, its the M66. Its lighter than a 686. But its not the best for shooting 357s. I have a M66 and like the revolver. It is maybe my best all around revolver. But when I go to the range to shoot 357 magnums only I have a GP100, Blackhawk and yes a 686 4 inch. But then again I love shooting magnums and the heavier the revolver the better.

Here is my M66. You will not fine a better looking revolver.
Good luck,
Howard

Because it is the best .357 combat revolver there is. I like my 686+ 6" better than any other revolver I have ever used. I like mine better than any Korth, and if I had to pick a weapon in an 18th century duel type situation, I pick this over anything else.

The one I have has had extensive polishing and tuning (I did it myself) to the point that the single action pull feels like a button on a DVD player. Feather light. DA is smooth but not too light. The perfect trigger.

And accurate? Very accurate. In the army, I took this to the range one day, and just playing around, I put 5 out of 7 shots on a steel silhouette at 300m! I couldn't believe it!

When I die, I want to be buried with my 686+. Just in case.

i need a pair of 686s

been wanting a 686 for some time now. really, i want 2. going to need the 4 inch for just shootin and the 2.5 inch with a bobbed hammer for carry. not only is the bobbed hammer practical for carry, it just plain out looks tough.

where does this gun "fit" in your arsenal or collection?

I saw a 3" 686+ no lock...was struck by its beauty...and immediately decided I needed a stainless .357 for a truck gun. I will use it for that purpose, but the real reason I own it is because it is a great combination of aesthetics and utility. No problems shooting full magnums in it for me.
