Why the big price difference on Ruger MK III's?

I have looked at the Mark II's and now MK III's for years but I could never understand why they range in price from $250-$500+. Anyone know the what you get for double the price on the same basic models?

MKIII with the standard model has the non adjustable sight and taper barrel and is cheaper than the model with the bull barrel and adjustable sight. The most expensive model is the Hunter with stainless fluted bull barrel and wood grip. This is a pretty gun to look at and shoot very accurate.

I paid 260 for a 5.5 inch bull barrel Mark III 22/45 in january.
