Why was this thread locked? (the AK47 School shooting)

Moderators...I completely respect how you run your forums, but was just curious to what rule was broken. It seemed that people were upset, but couldn't see a reason for locking it.

Just a suggestion...a quick one-liner saying, "closed b/c of xxxx" might help. (but then again, I guess when you have to close threads day after day...the explanation may get cumbersome).

yeah, a MAK-90 is an assualt rifle in the clinton gun ban semi-auto sense of the term.

The thread was closed because there was already a thread on the same subject in General. Usually, we don't post explanations when the reason why the thread is closed is obvious... in this case the link to THR in the thread suggested the duplicate.

For future reference, a PM to the mod in question is a better way to ask about a particular closure, or if you don't know which mod closed the thread, you can post a question in Technical Support.
