You ready for this???

Okie will appreciate.

kudu will figure out whom taught this gal to shoot....

Now it is written in the pages of gun magazines written with enviromental friendly ink , on recycled paper by flowered shirted writers needing a break from writing about Beach babes and Rice burners....

For Defence one MUST have blacktacticalsyntheticstockedultimateblingblingguns.

So a gal emails me about some "informal training" like some other idiot on this forum does * ahem* .

They had a stage that simulated Motalov Cocktails being thrown . :D

Bottle of water with a orange rag , thrown very much Columbaire style. This was to simulate a terroist, tossing a Cocktail and the need to shoot the cocktail before hitting store-front diner full of folks.

Hey - it could happen. :D

You had to shoot and hit ( stop) before the cocktail crossed a semi circled line. Again like Columbaire.

Using buckshot!!!

So the 11# black guns , even with minimum ammo, didn't work. Sidesaddles were unloaded, mag extensions were loaded down...

Gal did well with a SX1, and a Model 12. [ hint hint guess the instructor - kudu]

Then some fellows did good with various 1100s, 870's, Beretta & Browning O/U's...a variety

Then THE Fellow that couldn't miss...., kahki britches, and workshirt, old Ford Truck, canvas duck gun case that the zipper was busted , and " held together by a thread"...

...#4 buckshot, 311 SXS. :D

He then demostrated the same skill with the SX1, some pump guns, and a such. Gal said the old boy mentioned " bird, belly beak - bang" a few times....:p

" Yeah I use Pumps, too, at my age to darn much trouble to bend over and get hulls" ...

Gal said she had to give it a go with her 20 ga Ithaca....it worked, she gave the 311 a try ...." not used to 'em....I could get addicted real quick tho'" .

The old man just hit whatever he could see, effortless , smooth form.

Another stage they use a tennnis ball machine and have targets come at 'em....I have done this, too much fun. For real fun get about 3 folks and do a flurrie.

They did the flurry. " That old man did good....then he brought out his Model 97, model 12, and borrowed a 870 and 37 ....damn he could shoot that 97 fast".

I explained I knew what the old boy was doing...." cool ....I gotta get one of those" she quipped. * grin*

The old man would shoot 2, eject and load two so fast....he distracted the other shooters at first.

Danged old SXS's, worn gun cases, old Ford Pickups, and the folks that use 'em....

...don't they read the " Beach Babe- Rice Burner -Tacticalcool" Monthly Magazine ??

:neener:

Completed my SXS collection this day : I found a hardly used but stock scratched thru finish on one side Browning BSS 12ga. mod. and full 28". Although it has the plastic butt plate the damn thing swung up to my shoulder with sights aligned perfectly every time!:D Now I have that as the 12ga. for pheasants for sure, my 16ga Darne (5.8 lbs of artistic joy) for phancy shoots. My 22" 20 gauge 311b with the genuwine bayou carved stock for quail . Oh yes my AyA 10 gauge 20" for repelling borders and my 70's Baikal 12ga hammer gun for cowboy. This BSS is kinda neat, it matches my .410 Citori skeetgun from same (73) vintage. I do have a 12ga Lightning superposed for sporting clays and a Rem3200 for trap. This BSS is real plain jane with non selective(silver color ) trigger and extractor only. I gave $400 out the door in a brown Browning hardcase. A 90% gun with a badly scratched stock from travel once. I will NOT fit a recoil pad as it fits too good! I will use lighter loads in this un!;)

Thanks to Cowboy Action

And is why I got my TTN SxS... When it came time to pick what I wanted I told hubby that the pumps just didn't do it for me... To me the SxS's just "look" more cowboy... Love those double WORKING hammers.. . Can't go with them fake ones that are there for looks... That's just wrong.

Craig Hope you see this before you buy the 20 gauge for your wife... I am a big ole puss that can't take recoil very well but everyone I talked to convinced me to go ahead and get the 12 gauge and just use the "Featherlight" loads... I have been assured by women of less stature than I that also can't take recoil that the feather lights will produce less recoil felt than a 20 gauge...

Can't go with them fake ones that are there for looks...
That applies to so many uh, artificial enhancements, like side plates and Beretta's Xtra-wood to name but a few :D

You are right about the 20. It can kick a lot more than the Featherweight 12 gauge.

Doubles

Where's the difference between a SxS and an O/U as far as steel shot is concerned? At the muzzle end an O/U is just a SxS turned on its side. I would expect exactly the same problems with either as far as steel shot is concerned.

On the sighting plane issue, the O/U seems to dominate target shooting, but I'm inclined to say the SxS is better in the field. You don't go deer hunting with a bench rest rifle.

"You don't go deer hunting with a bench rest rifle."

No, I'd go with a benchrest pistol, but I never claimed sanity.

As far as the O/U's and steel shot go, I would imagine the old models would have the same problems as the old SXS's.

mauserlady... thanks for the info. we already put some $$ down on the 20 and the 12. if my wife can handle the 12 i'll get her one and give the 20 to our daughter in a few years if she wants it. if not, then i got myself TWO hammer guns.:D
