If anyone here is truly firearms enthusiast, proud of their Country then they should never ever fall in line with those who just want to ban "assault weapons" and high capacity magazines. Even in these trying times.
If we erroneously conclude that these rifles should be surrendered, consider what will happen next.
Society will pat itself on the back for having achieved such a "common sense" measure, but then perhaps a few years down the road, an incident will occur where a deranged, disturbed, or mentally ill individual will take a bolt action with a high magnification scope up a tower, or to the top level of a building and (God forbid) start to fire. Now your favorite walnut stocked deer rifle which your grandfather gave you with that nice 3X9 with which you have taken many deer, now that rifle is a "sniper rifle". Obviously! how could we have missed it? Just look at the side by side comparison with a tactical rifle. The calibers are similar, the scopes are similar. Gov. Cuomo will emphatically rant that "no hunter needs such a high powered scope or a rifle capable of shooting at such ranges!" After all most deer shots are statistically inside of the range where a scope is necessary. This is all on paper and very "common sense." David Gregory will hold up a new black scope and say " now if we got rid of these high powered scopes, isn't it just possible that maybe a few lives could have been saved?
At least then you will still have your shotgun right? Well now come on! That's not just a duck hunting shotgun! A police department expert will clearly show on the evening news how that nice old shotgun becomes a "street sweeper" with just one minute with a hack saw, and have you noticed the increase in the quality and power of slug hunting shotgun rounds? These shotguns must be banned! After all weren't they a weapon of war in the jungles of Vietnam? We just can't let these weapons exist on the "streets" they will say.
And of course we all know that more people are killed with handguns than any other type of firearm so of course those have to go!
Pretty soon what are you left with? NOTHING. This is the true aim and goal of many, and if you don't defend and want to keep your "assault weapons" and high capacity magazines you simply aid their cause, its a slippery slope! Hold the line now for the sake of the 2nd Amendment and for Freedom.

I don't believe he's preaching to the choir. There are several members here who don't believe this will impact them, or not much. "Can I just load 7 rounds into my 20 round mags?" is becoming a common question. People who ask it should be ashamed of themselves.

Theirs is not the shame. The shame is in those who foisted this law onto them. They are attempting--albeit under huge insult from their elected officials--to comply with laws that they feel are an abridgement. Hopefully they will remember these actions against their freedom and either move--which is still free to do--or begin activism. I would never blame a Jew for trying to find warmest and most comfortable part of the prison train. It's the ones who did it that bare the shame.

What's wrong with planning ahead? If that kind of law is enacted it will take some time to fight it in the courts. Meanwhile, who sells 7-round mags?

I ask again, what's wrong with planning ahead?

John

The ultimate goal of the gun banner is to leave you with no means to protect yourself your family, your country, your liberty. They think they are saving lives, but they forget the solemn scenes from Europe, the millions killed in the 1930's and 40's the result of a countries appearing to be weak.

IOW, go for a preemptive give up and roll over now hey?

They didn't forget Anything! They know full-well what they're doing.

Only the peons in the him control movement think they're saving lives.

Unless you accept that the Plutocrats are afraid and trying to save their own lives.

There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING of benefit to the ordinary lawful citizen, that can come from the restriction of our Second Amendment rights. This is the beginning of the power grab by an increasingly oppressive government.

I completely agree with you. I personally don't own any ARs or AKs or anything else that might be termed an "Assault Rifle", and I don't really plan on buying one because they don't hold any appeal for me. I however have nothing against them and I will fight like hell for everyone's right to own them. Today the AR-15, tomorrow a Ruger 10-22 10 round magazine or a pump shotgun. Just look at New York and IL(I know that IL's didn't pass, but it makes a point). Even if you think it doesn't affect you, it does.
