For Wisconsin Conceal Carry Licensees...

Next Tuesday, February 28, the Senate Committee on Judiciary & Public Safety will hold a Public Hearing on Senate Bill 7, which is the companion bill to Assembly Bill 28. Both SB 7 and AB 28 seek to revise current CCW statutes to ensure that when a law-abiding CCW holder renews their license before it expires, the license is valid for five years from the expiration date of the license being renewed. Currently, when a CCW holder renews their license before it expires, it becomes valid for five years from the date of issuance, rather than the expiration date of the license being renewed. Please consider attending the Public Hearing to show your support for this bill! Hearing details can be found below. Also, please contact the committee members and urge them to support SB 7!

I kinda feel like I got ripped off.
I rec'd my CCW license in Nov 2011.
Fast forward to July 2016, I rec'd a renewal notice.
Rather than waiting til Nov & being part of a huge rush, I sent my renewal in right away.
When I rec'd my new license it now expires in July, so I lost 4 months.
I contacted the WI DOJ & they said that as the law reads the license can only be good for a max of 5 years.

AB 28 & SB 7 seek to correct that, so the new license can expire 5 years from the old license rather than an immediate 5 year term.
