Ive started using CCI standard velocity for most of my target shooting, and subsonic hollowpoints for most of my small game hunting (1070 and 1050 fps, respectively.)

I want to buy a 10/22, but will it reliably cycle this sort of ammo?

yes, it will even cycle most subsonics as long as you keep it clean, the only thing mine hasnt cycled on is remmington CBEE's, which make about as much noise as a bb gun. but like the Aguila Sub-sonic snipers cycle well, as do the finocchi subsonics, and winchester subsonics as well, i threw a smattering of them at mine and the CBee's were the only ones that wouldnt cycle.

For the record the Cbee's are 740 FPS.

They run fine in mine. I use Eley subsonic hollow points in my squirrel gun. Ridiculously accurate.

My 10/22 really loves the CCI subsonic HP ammo. Standard velocity mini-mags work fine too but the subsonics give substantially better accuracy in mine.

I perfer the mini-mags in mine, they shoot flatter than the subsonics so less having to figure out the drop on them when shooting at squirrel sized targets.

Use subsonics most of time in my 1022 and no problem cycling in competition, rabbits, foxes, etc

Been around a lot of them on the range; most run better on heavier high velocity ammo. I wouldn't mind having some these guns mentioned here. We have an informal 22 shoot every month. A lot of them choke on anything else.
When someone loses a heat because of his Ruger choking we shout "RUGAR"
"How did you shoot tonite?" "I RUGARED"
