Will a mag extension work with an 870 barrel with rifle sights?

I'm thinking of installing a factory +2 mag extension on my 18" 870. The barrel has the same sights as the 700 rifle. Will the long front sight base interfere will the mag extension clamp?

Here's my 870 Express with a 20" barrel and rifle sights. Looks like it would be a close fit to me with an 18". You may be able to slip the clamp down a little closer to the receiver to avoid the front rifle sight.

Yeah I was wondering whether the clamp had to be in a certain place on the extension or if I could adjust it up or down. You're saying I can adjust it?

Also, is that a +2 or +3 extension on the 20" 870 in your pic?

On Remington factory extensions there is an indention that the clamp screw must fit in. This is a good thing, since it places the clamp in the same position every time. Most other after market extensions will allow you to place the clamp anywhere you wish.

The Remington website would seem to indicate that it would be ok.

I have an 18.5 inch Police barrel with a +2 magazine extension. From the end of the barrel to the beginning of the magazine clamp is one and three quarter inches. I do not know the exact play I have over the magazine extension ring but that should give you some idea of how it would fit. Also be advised that the clamp is not a full "O" ring, it is open at the top.

Mine works fine...

870P, Remington 18" barrel with rifle sights, +2 magazine extension. I bought this gun used. According to Remington, the magazine extension did not come stock with the gun. I bought that clamp separately. I have to say that I prefer no magazine extension, which is my current configuration.

Ah, didn't know that. The incline of the front sight base begins about 3" from the muzzle, but even if were somehow in the way I could file the hooks of the clamp back a little. Judging from jakemccoy's pic though, it won't be necessary. Thanks guys!
