I have an Uberti Regulator SAA clone, forerunner to the Cattleman model. Will Colt SAA GRIPS fit this pistol? I came across a beautiful pair of old stag SAA grips at a bargain price if they will work without having to modify them. Thanks for your help.

Howdy

No way to know without trying. Traditionally, Single Action revolver grips were fitted to each grip individually, buffing the grips and the grip frame as a unit. So there would be variation from gun to gun.

IMO: No, they won't fit.

Colt grip frames and grips were finished mated together, then fitted to the frame.

Uberti's, not so much, even the same exact shape.

I have a Uberti and a Colt.

And I bought Colt grips to put on it several years ago.

They were not even close to the same shape or size.

Doubt the old Colt grips would fit an Uberti SAA. If it's a pair of high quality stag grips you want maybe try sackpeterson.com. He makes them for several different Uberti models.

Maybe, maybe not. You'll have to try them and see. They could fit pretty close or terribly. They could have enough material to allow fitting or they could already be undersized. If your gun has one piece walnut grips, like most of them have, you'll have to drill for a locator pin. Whether the gun is a Colt or a replica by Uberti, Pietta or USFA, grips are fitted individually and there's a good bit of variation, even between guns of the same make. It's usually best to have them fitted. I can also recommend Sack Peterson for elk antler.

Uberti grips are also sanded to the frame too and usually perfectly fitted.

Some of Sack's grips:
