I'm one of those one gun guys, I carry one gun for CCW and home defense. This gun pretty much stays in the holster 24/7. I have heard that leather holsters draw moisture and that it isn't a good idea to leave the gun in the holster any longer than necessary. The gun is a CZ W/ the black polycoat finish and I live in a fairly dry climate.
Is there any truth to what I've been told? Am I damaging my gun by essentially storing it in the holster? I haven't noticed any rust and it appears to function normally. Any suggestions?

I live in a humid climate and leaving the gun in the holsters definitely has a negative moisture affect over time.Rust has been a major factor. My Ruger GP141 had to be sent back to the factory.
Living in Colorado with much lower humidity it's not going to be as negative.
But,from a learning experience ,I would not keep my '"resting " firearms leather holstered.

Could you define "resting" ? I do tend to try to unholster the gun at night just to get it out of the holster. but I'd still say its holstered 18 hours a day

I am with you.My main carry is holstered 16 hours per day.I sleep a little longer than you.:D
But all my various backups are in the gun safe with the dehumidifying gel sans holster.

Treo,
You live in Colorado. It's so dry there that moisture doesn't even condense on a glass of icewater.

In your circumstance, you don't need to worry.

If you live in FL, you may need to be concerned.
